In this intensive you will learn:
✾ How yoga can impact the nervous system
✾ How these physiological changes impact psychological functioning
✾ How yoga can be used to cultivate mindfulness
✾ How mindfulness can increase psychological health
It will also include:
✾ An experiential mindfulness exercise.
✾ A one-hour yoga class, showing participants how to incorporate the lessons of mindfulness and neuroscience into asana practice.
✾ Journaling and partner work to help develop self-awareness and deep listening as a path to compassion for oneself and for others.

About Ann: Dr. Bortz is a licensed clinical psychologist who has over 20 years of experience in evaluating and treating those who are suffering. She is also an experienced and registered yoga teacher at the E-500 level and has presented nationally on using yoga to address the emotional reactivity and arousal dysregulation in traumatized clients. Dr. Bortz developed and is implementing a targeted yoga intervention for veterans presenting with psychological distress at the VA so that this modality can be empirically studied as an adjunctive psychotherapeutic intervention.
