Women's Leadership During Environmental Crises says
Join the Global Fund for Women & Global Greengrants Fund for a special luncheon with activist Hope Hervilla on Monday, July 13th in Denver, Colorado! Learn more & RSVP here: http://bit.ly/1HzF3CE

Meet Hope Hervilla, international award-winning citizen’s journalist and a woman activist leader from the Philippines.

In November of 2013, Super Typhoon Haiyan hit the Philippines and left over 6,000 people dead and 16 million people without homes. In Hope’s hometown of Estancia, the storm caused a fuel barge to smash into the coastline, spilling more than 9,000 liters of fuel and destroying local livelihoods. With the help of the organization she founded, SOS! Panay and Guimaras, Hope led her community in demanding economic, environmental justice and accountability as part of the disaster response.

In addition to her life as an activist and community leader, Hope is a journalist and has run for office in the Philippines. She founded Voices of Hope, a collective of local survivors trained as citizen’s journalists to give voices to the survivors victimized both by the deadly typhoon and government negligence.

We hope that you will take this opportunity to meet Hope while she is traveling in the US for a fellowship she earned as a recipient of the Women Have Wings Award.
