Write Club Denver: It Begins. says
ALARUM, COMPATRIOTS! You are summoned to Syntax Physic Opera at 9:00 p.m. July 6, 2017, for the gory, storied birth of WRITE CLUB Denver.

WRITE CLUB is literary thunderdome like no other. Only the best, bravest, and boldest writers, comedians, and performers compete together in 1-on-1 bouts. The audience's thunderous applause picks the winner. The winner picks the charity. The loser is sent to Ohio.

Admission is $10 cash at door. (Or more, you heartless bastards: it's for charity!) Doors are at 8:00 and the show starts at 9:00 sharp, but claim your seats and drinks on the early side because WRITE CLUB WAITS FOR NO ONE.

And in celebration of our country's ... oh, let's call it independence ... our dueling themes honor the revolutionary notion that the pen is mightier than the bayonet.

Laura Condi // SPARKLE
Ron Doyle // FADE

A transplant from California, Laura Condi considers herself a "recovering stand-up comedian" that transitioned into storytelling, after she saw a therapist that "cured all her problems and subsequently made her unfunny." She 's a writer/performer and founder of the Denver Storytellers Project, whose show Storycraft debuted in January.

Ron Doyle is co-host and producer of The Narrators, tech & venue manager for High Plains Comedy Festival and tech director for DINK. During the daylight he works as a freelance editor, writer and podcast producer.

Kat Atwell // STARS
Sean Cummings // STRIPES

Kat Atwell loves sushi, metaphysical bookstores, and inappropriate stories of all kinds. She's a loud laugher and hates animals that fly erratically.

Sean Michael Cummings is an actor, playwright and erstwhile standup comedian from Denver, Colorado. His plays have been produced by the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival, and he was the recipient of the 2017 Orchard Project Fellowship for Playwriting.

Andrew Curtis Forlines // FREEDOM
Sarah Gilbert // TYRANNY

Andrew Curtis Forlines is a local chef, comedian of sorts, and a fantastic lover. He was homeschooled in isolation by fundamentalist religious zealots and has spent a lifetime navigating the bumpy assimilation into society. He cannot impress upon you enough how tremendously disappointing you all have been for him.

Sarah Gilbert is a short story and science fiction writer, who is a former newspaper reporter. She loves those giant, chewy Sweet Tarts, and she has an analogy for everything.

Which of these hellions will win DEATHLESS GLORY and send money raining triumphantly onto the charity of their choice? And which will slink home (or to Ohio, if we can scrape together the bus fare), defeated and forlorn?

Be at Syntax Physic Opera on July 6 to find out. We insist.
