Audra Kubat and the DIA invite you to celebrate the release of her new album, Mended Vessel.

Detroit Music Award winning singer/songwriter Audra Kubat has released 5 albums to critical acclaim in a career that spans over 20 years. A composer, performer, and educator, Kubat’s work has earned her a place in the community as a resource for empowerment through songwriting and music.

The first set will begin at 7 p.m. and will be dedicated to songs from her previous 5 albums, and the second set at 8:30 p.m. will feature Kubat performing her new album live in its entirety. She will be joined by a selection of guests.

In addition, Kubat will host two songwriting workshops at the DIA on September 8th. On September 9th the songs generated from those and other songwriting workshops, as well as poems performed by InsideOut students, will be presented in the Diego Rivera Court through a sponsorship from the DIA and a partnership with InsideOut Literary Arts Project.

Songwriting with Audra Kubat: October 8, Great Hall, 1 p.m. & 2 p.m. at the DIA.

Join Audra Kubat for an afternoon songwriting session. Kubat has partnered with InsideOut Literary Arts Project, Living Arts Detroit, and DIME, to teach and inspire others in the craft of songwriting. Kubat will guide participants through exercises to transform ideas into songs. Each session will conclude with a performance of the newly created song.

Audra Kubat invites you to explore the writing talents of the people of Detroit. Kubat has partnered with InsideOut Literary Arts Project to teach and inspire others in the craft of songwriting. This performance will showcase the results of several weeklong songwriting workshops, including a recent workshop with students from Marcus Garvey Elementary, a Detroit Public School, sponsored by the DIA, as well as the works created with DIA patrons during drop-in songwriting sessions. Original songs will be performed by Audra Kubat and Detroit Public School students. This event is perfect for families with children of all ages who love music and poetry.
