Emerging Artist: Austen Brantley

Whitdel Arts is proud to present, a solo exhibition by young emerging artist Austen Brantley. Working in ceramic sculpture, Brantley began his interest in clay in a school elective class. Uninterested in making pottery, Brantley soon found rendering the human form to be an engaging challenge. Since then, Brantley has developed his skill further, learning to form the unassuming lumps of clay into impressively detailed busts and human figures. “My inspiration comes from looking at different cultures; historic and classic art pieces for source material— and what the clay itself reveals to me. In the moments that I create in clay, I hope to capture the world through the eyes of people who have struggled and have reached freedom.” Brantley said of his work.
