FoodLab Detroit says
What distinguishes FoodLab from other business support organizations is the close collaboration of everyone involved - chefs, specialty food artisans, cafe owners, coffee roasters, bakers - and the strong sense of a shared purpose that extends beyond financial goals.

FoodLab 101, our membership orientation, is designed to do more than inform new members. It was created to inspire and motivate them to be active participants in the FoodLab community. This event is free to members, but please register if you’re planning to attend (it helps us to know who to prepare for!).

FOOD:
“The shared meal elevates eating from a mechanical process of fueling the body to a ritual of family and community, from the mere animal biology to an act of culture.” -Michael Pollan

We’re looking forward to sharing a meal with you, deepening our relationships, and strengthening our community. With that in mind, FoodLab 101 will be a potluck! So bring a dish and show everyone who you are! It could be representative of your culture, your family, an inside joke from decades ago, or whatever you want! We’ll be participating in a community building activity during our meal, so please come prepared to share about your dish and what it means to you.
