DIA's Friends of Modern and Contemporary Art says
Friends of Modern and Contemporary Art (FMCA) will host “Industrial Romance,” on May 2nd, 2015, a fundraiser to celebrate “Diego Rivera and Frida Kahlo in Detroit,” the critically acclaimed exhibition presently on view at the Detroit Institute of Arts. Attendees at “Industrial Romance” will enjoy the evening surrounded by Rivera’s monumental “Detroit Industry Murals” in the DIA’s stunning Rivera Court.

Entertainment will include soloists from the Michigan Opera Theater’s production of Frida and dancers from the Spanish dance company El Alma Española. Dinner is served until 9:00, followed by the Afterglow, DJ-ed by Jared Sykes and DJ Whip.

Tickets purchased at the Patron level (entry at 7 pm) are $250 and include the fundraiser celebration consisting of : cocktail reception, dinner, and entertainment. Tickets purchased for the Afterglow (entry at 9 pm) are $75 and include: open bar, entertainment and light fare. Cocktail attire is encouraged. Funds raised from the event will support FMCA programs, which include sponsoring diverse speakers and supporting the DIA’s acquisition of new works of contemporary art. Previous fundraisers by the FMCA have assisted in the conservation of Tony Smith’s sculpture Gracehoper, acclaimed lecture series like ”Which Side Up: What Moves Contemporary Art?” and in bringing an exhibition of works by Iranian artist Shirin Neshat to the DIA.
