The Link Detroit Greenway/Dequindre Cut Extension Grand Opening celebration will be a festive, community-focused event that features something for everyone. Guests will find a colorful, engaging atmosphere featuring entertainment, food trucks, hands-on activities and other surprises.

A half-hour formal program on Friday will allow representatives from those companies and organizations integral to the project to offer brief comments and to participate in a ceremonial ribbon cutting.

Saturday’s celebration will feature a very short program and a day of entertainment and activities. The public will be invited to attend both days, but most of the activities will take place on Saturday.

FRIDAY, APRIL 29
Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony
2:00-3:30 PM

Join local dignitaries and the partners of the Link Detroit project in celebrating the completion of the greenway projects linking Downtown, Midtown, Eastern Market, Detroit Riverfront and Hamtramck. Complimentary bicycle valet will be provided during this event by Wheelhouse Detroit.

SATURDAY, APRIL 30
Community Celebration
11:00AM-3:00PM

Attendees will be able to enjoy a variety of activities throughout the day on Saturday along the new section of the Dequindre Cut Greenway and the new Wilkins Street Plaza including:
Live Music and Entertainment
Food Trucks
Rickshaw Detroit Pedicab rides
Complimentary Wheelhouse Detroit bicycle rentals
Greening of Detroit activities

Guest can also learn more about cycling in Detroit with information booths for Slow Roll, Detroit Greenways Initiative and Tour de Troit.

LOCATION
Wilkins Street Plaza (corner of Wilkins and Orleans) in Eastern Market.
Parking is available in the adjacent lot (across from the Detroit Market Garden).

REMINDER
Wear your walking shoes! We encourage guests to bike, walk and explore the Eastern Market district and the Link Detroit connections to Midtown, the Detroit Riverfront and Hamtramck.
