Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History says
Spencer Haywood, a Detroit native, attended Pershing High School and led its 1967 basketball team to the state championships. After one year at junior college and due to his unmatched talent, Haywood was asked to join the 1968 U.S. Olympic team. However, when drafted to the NBA following this he was denied access due to regulations which required league entrants to be college graduates.

Join us for the 45th Anniversary of Haywood v. National Basketball Association - the case which won Haywood entrance into the NBA despite his collegiate career and paved the way for future greats such as Kobe Bryant, Carmello Anthony, Lebron James, Kevin Garnett and many more.
Tickets are $50 each and include dinner & program. To purchase or more information, please call The Wright at (313) 494-5800.
