The Big Bang Infinity Convention is bringing three days of gaming, comics, cosplay, collectables, and pop culture to Suncoast this December.

Durban’s gaming, comics and pop-culture community is getting its own major convention this year - The Big Bang Infinity Convention at playTSOGO Globe, Suncoast, from 18 to 20 December 2026 from 10am to 10pm.
Presented by The Big Bang Shop in association with Fair Trade Events, the three-day convention promises a packed programme for all geek communities!

Infinity is designed to be more than somewhere to browse stalls and buy collectables.
You can expect:
“We want Infinity to feel like an event where there is always something happening and where people can discover a new hobby or community while celebrating the ones they already love,” says Pascal Naidoo of Fair Trade Events. “One of the things we're most excited about is that the convention isn't centred around one single type of collector or fandom.”
The event grew out of the community surrounding The Big Bang Shop, which developed from a specialist gaming and hobby store into a meeting point for Durban’s players, collectors and creators.
The Big Bang Shop has built communities around Pokémon, Magic: The Gathering, Yu-Gi-Oh!, Dungeons & Dragons, Warhammer, miniature painting, tabletop gaming and collectables through regular gaming sessions, tournaments, workshops and learn-to-play events.
According to Naidoo, Infinity is essentially an opportunity to take that community experience and make it much bigger.
“Durban has an incredible creative and gaming community, and we believe the city deserves more large-scale pop-culture experiences of its own. Rather than people always having to travel elsewhere for major conventions, we want to contribute towards building something exciting and sustainable here in Durban,” he says.

One of the convention’s aims is to make the world of gaming and collecting accessible to newcomers and experienced hobbyists.
If you’re a longtime collector, you can browse vendors, hunt for new additions, enter tournaments and connect with fellow enthusiasts. For the newbies among us, you can try games, discover tabletop hobbies, learn about Dungeons & Dragons or have a go at miniature painting.
That crossover is part of the fun. You might arrive for Pokémon and leave wondering when you can start your first D&D campaign!
“We don't want anyone to feel that they need to already know everything about comics, gaming or trading cards before attending,” says Naidoo. “Someone should be able to walk into Infinity knowing absolutely nothing about a particular hobby and leave having discovered something they love.”
With Durban’s gaming and creative communities already growing around local stores, clubs, artists and hobby groups, Infinity is aiming to give them a much bigger stage.
Consider December booked, then. Durban’s geekiest new gathering is coming to town.
