Fires de Girona 2016: Diada Castellera

On Sunday morning there'll be Girona's biggest annual human tower ('castell') event, which sees 'casteller' groups Els Marrecs de Salt, Els Capgrossos de Mataró and Els Minyons de Terrassa perform - this means they build incredible constructions by standing on each other's shoulders, topped off by amazingly agile and brave children climbing to the top to complete the structure; when the smallest casteller ('la enxaneta') raises his or her hand, the job is done. These three groups will give a display of their fantastic talent and hard work.
