River Oaks Chamber Orchestra Presents “Matchmaking” says
The River Oaks Chamber Orchestra presents “Matchmaking” as its yearly coductorless performance, a daring setup in which the instrumentalists rely on each other for artistic decisions. Featuring concertmaster and violin soloist Scott St. John, the concert highlights works that find the orchestra divided musically.

The program includes Vaughn Williams’ “Lark Ascending,” Bartok’s “Rumanian Folk Dances” and the world premiere of Houston composer Marcus Maroney’s “Concerto for Orchestra,” which is inspired by the compositional approach of Bartok’s “Concerto for Orchestra” and Haydn’s “Symphony No. 6,” both of which are characterized by multiple duets within the overall structure.

There will be a composer talk at 4 p.m., and the concert will begin at 5 p.m. ROCOrooters music education and childcare is available during/after this performance.

Tickets cost $35 for general admission, $25 for seniors and $15 for students.
