An English wooden window alongside an Armenian hatch, an Ottoman decoration next to Christian engravings and a Star of David frame pinned to an Arabic arch – 550 windows from all over Jerusalem in many shapes and from all periods became a spectacular work of art in the form of a magnificent palace currently displayed in the Sus (horse) Garden. This window installation is the initiative of the late Yoram Amir, an artist and activist, who collected windows from abandoned or destined to be demolished buildings for decades. The connection between the windows corresponds with the complex story of Jerusalem and creates a mixture of languages, voices and cultures that do not always get along, and yet manage to put together one house that has more windows than barricaded walls.
