Johannesburg is gearing up for a major musical milestone this weekend. The iconic Bassline Fest returns for its landmark 20th edition on Saturday, 23 May 2026, bringing a star-studded lineup to The People’s Park at Constitution Hill in Braamfontein.

Held in celebration of Africa Day under the banner “Say Africa,” this year’s festival promises a powerful blend of musical legacy, fresh discovery, and artistic momentum.

The lineup: icons meet new voices

The 2026 festival boasts a heavy-hitting roster of headline acts representing the absolute best of South African music. Legendary troubadour Vusi Mahlasela will bring his timeless folk melodies to the stage, alongside Afro-soul sensation Ami Faku and the velvet-voiced Maleh. Adding a distinct edge to the afternoon are alternative hip-hop powerhouse Yugen Blakrok and rising talent Brandon Aura.

True to Bassline’s core mission of nurturing future stars, the festival has also integrated the winners of its recent Rhythmic Clash talent search into the main lineup. Festival-goers will get a first-hand look at the next generation of African excellence with performances by:

  • Zinhle Madela
  • Flex of He and I
  • Shef in the Kitchen

“Bassline’s ongoing commitment is to artist development and talent discovery, creating a platform where emerging voices can share the stage with some of the continent’s most celebrated performers,” says Brad Holmes of Bassline Fest. “This is a festival of artists in motion. Bassline Fest 2026 arrives at a moment of major artistic momentum for its headline acts.”
