Local Intel: Chanley Wong

Local Intel: Chanley Wong

Welcome to Local Intel, your guide to Johannesburg from the people who know it best. We chat with local personalities, tastemakers, and city enthusiasts to unlock their favourite spots and untold stories. Forget the guidebooks, this is authentic Joburg. In a city that moves as fast as Johannesburg, keeping up is an art form. For creator Chanley Wong, the magic lies in the city’s refusal to stand still. “As a creator, Joburg is constantly evolving and surprising us,” Chanley says. “Whether it’s a music festival, run clubs, coffee raves, a rooftop sundowner, or a local chef’s new menu, the city never feels static, and that energy is contagious and inspiring.” But beyond the events and the skylines, Chanley finds her spark in the grit and heart of the streets. To her, Joburg feels alive because of its people: “There’s an authenticity and resilience that makes the city feel like a place where anything can happen.” If you’re looking for a fresh way to spend your weekend, whether that’s a guided skate tour through Maboneng or a wholesome night out in Sandton, take a page out of Chanley’s playbook.  MORE CELEBS SHARE THEIR LOCAL SECRETS Jacaranda FM's DJ Ankletap shares his ultimate guide to the City of Gold J'Something on his Jozi Favourites J Ross on his local gems that make Johannesburg special Jonathan Boynton-Lee on his favourite ways to soak up Joburg's charm Wayne Boucher on his Joburg hit list

The 8 best outdoor restaurants in Johannesburg

The 8 best outdoor restaurants in Johannesburg

There's something about eating outdoors that transforms a meal into an occasion. Truly, there's eating
and then there's eating outdoors. And though no self-respecting South African would ever turn down a good braai, there’s also something to be said about an outdoor meal which doesn’t feature a boerie roll. Al fresco dining – essentially eating outside – may have European origins, but Joburg's climate makes it feel purpose-built for long lunches on terraces and dinners under oak trees. Summer here begs for meals where the setting matters as much as what's on your plate. These Johannesburg restaurants have perfected the art of al fresco dining. Seaside towns you must visit in South Africa

Seaside towns you must visit in South Africa

The South African coastline stretches over 2,500 kilometres and is full of dramatic contrasts. It starts on the rugged West Coast, where the cold Atlantic Ocean brings misty mornings and a stark, desert-like landscape. As you travel around the Cape Peninsula and head east, the water gets warmer, turning into the subtropical Indian Ocean along the KwaZulu-Natal coast. This coastline is more than just a border; it fuels tourism and is home to a remarkable array of marine life. From lively Eastern Cape surf spots to peaceful, white-washed fishing villages, South Africa’s seaside towns blend diverse cultures, cuisine, and scenery. Whether you want the thrill of cage diving with sharks, the calm of watching Southern Right whales from a cliff, or just a quiet place to enjoy fresh seafood, these towns offer a memorable getaway.

Mira

Mira

4 out of 5 stars
Located in the heart of Sandton, Mira opened its doors late last year after a mysterious social media build-up that had me wondering: would this restaurant live up to the hype? After stopping by twice since opening, I’m happy to report that the answer is yes. Set within the Sandton Sun precinct, Mira is a 200-seater Mozambican-Portuguese restaurant that feels both transportive and deeply rooted in Joburg’s love for quiet luxury. It’s the kind of place that makes you slow down the moment you step inside, and in Sandton, that’s no small thing. The Vibe Mira is designed to flex with whatever the moment calls for. Corporate catch-ups, date nights, celebratory dinners and indulgent evenings out all feel equally at home here. Despite its size, the restaurant never feels vast; the layout creates a sense of sophistication and intimacy that’s carefully considered. Every detail contributes to the atmosphere. From the curated art and music to the lighting and textures, nothing feels accidental. There’s an undeniable sense of polish here, refined but not stiff, making Mira feel like a destination rather than just another new opening. The Food Mira’s menu draws inspiration from Mozambique and Portuguese home cooking. For starters, the Lulas Fritas (deep-fried squid heads served with Mira-made tartare) are indulgent and deeply satisfying. The Mussel Pot, served in a creamy garlic sauce and white wine, is rich yet light and perfect for sharing. I didn’t share mine, a choice I would later re
The Greenhouse

The Greenhouse

5 out of 5 stars
In a city known for its vibrant restaurant scene, The Greenhouse in Sandton stands out as a benchmark of luxury dining and sophisticated ambience. This venue, nestled within a stunning, plant-filled glasshouse, consistently delivers an atmosphere where high-end cuisine meets curated glamour. Earlier this year, this reputation for excellence was solidified with an exciting partnership with the celebrated Shortmarket Club. This collaboration merged Joburg style with Cape Town's flair. The result is a dining experience that feels both familiar and deeply exclusive. The Vibe Every Joburger knows the late-night glamour of The Greenhouse. The restaurant called itself “South Africa’s first authentic supper club”. In a way, it reimagined dining as a fully immersive, sensory experience. Sunset cocktails glide effortlessly into decadent dinners and, eventually, late-night dancing. However, the addition of a lunchtime service was the daring move we didn't know we needed. It was quiet when we visited, as lunch at the Greenhouse is still a new concept. Lunchtime services only launched in November. Still, the lush, plant-draped courtyard looks just as good when the sun hits it at midday. The Food Designed with lazy, lingering afternoons in mind, The Greenhouse's new lunch menu offers a brilliant range of options. Choices include light pick-me-ups to rich, deeply satisfying plates. The difficulty isn't finding something good; it's choosing just one. (No, really, I ordered two mains.) I k
Lacuna Bistro

Lacuna Bistro

4 out of 5 stars
Tucked inside The Maslow Hotel in Sandton, Lacuna Bistro offers a calm, contemporary escape from the fast-paced business district outside its doors. With its glass-lined dining room overlooking the hotel’s manicured gardens and pool, it’s the kind of spot where you can shift gears effortlessly, from boardroom mode to a relaxed, quietly indulgent meal. Whether you’re staying at the hotel or simply looking for a refined dining experience in the heart of Sandton, Lacuna proves there’s more to this business-focused address than meets the eye.  The Vibe By day, Lacuna Bistro is a relaxed space that readily welcomes family breakfasts at the buffet, the business crowd for lunch, and afternoon drinks with the girls. By night (and on Fridays in particular), it transforms into a moody space that effortlessly welcomes couples (or even friends) seeking a refined night out. With the lights low and a lounge singer crooning soothing tunes in the background, the atmosphere fosters an intimate ambience.   The Food The menu at Lacuna is a fusion of Mediterranean-style dishes rooted in South African culinary heritage. It was recently reimagined and updated, and is a tight collection of both comfort food and speciality dishes. During our visit, we indulged in the restaurant’s limited-edition Fivefold Indulgence menu, a lavish five-course offering. Our meal began with a golden prawn arancini amuse-bouche, served with marinara aioli, a crisp and flavourful start. Starters followed, and we opted
The Maslow Sandton

The Maslow Sandton

3 out of 5 stars
Sandton has no shortage of polished hotels, but few strike the balance between business efficiency and quiet indulgence quite like The Maslow Hotel. Secure in its identity as a specialist business hotel, it delivers precisely what you’d expect,  yet still manages to surprise with thoughtful touches that go beyond the boardroom. I’ve always been intrigued by the shape of The Maslow. From the right angle, it looks a bit like a cruise ship, a clever architectural “Jedi mind trick,” perhaps, designed to shift guests from business to leisure mode. Whatever the intention, it works. Once inside, you feel a welcome sense of distance from the bustle of Sandton’s financial district. Why stay at The Maslow Sandton Located in the heart of Sandton’s financial hub, just a few minutes from the Gautrain station, The Maslow is tailored for the modern traveller who values both productivity and comfort. It’s equipped with sleek conference rooms, high-speed internet, and hybrid-ready meeting spaces. A complimentary shuttle to the Gautrain and Sandton City adds convenience, while a private chauffeur service is available for those who prefer a more personalised experience. Beyond the boardroom, the hotel’s lush gardens and pool area offer a tranquil escape from the city’s buzz, a surprisingly peaceful spot in the heart of the hustle and bustle. It’s no wonder The Maslow is starting to find a new identity as a date-night destination too. What are the rooms like at The Maslow Sandton? The Maslow fea

The Whippet

The Whippet

5 out of 5 stars
Housed in the historic Old Linden Hotel, The Whippet is a bright, airy cafĂ© that celebrates Linden’s farming heritage while serving some of the city’s most acclaimed coffee. Recognised internationally,  it was voted one of the Top 100 Best Coffee Shops in the World in Madrid, Spain, 2025. The cafĂ© effortlessly combines a nod to the suburb’s past with a modern, design-conscious vibe, making it a must-visit for both locals and visitors alike. The vibe  At 10 am on a Wednesday, The Whippet in Linden is relatively busy. Most tables inside have people at them, which is unsurprising since the cafĂ© strikes the perfect balance between casual comfort and thoughtful detail. During the week, the cafĂ© attracts a mix of business people and casual diners, while on weekends, families, runners, and even furry friends fill the sunlit space. The interior walks the line between industrial edge and inviting warmth with exposed brick, golden light fixtures, and sleek wood panelling that nods to the building’s 1950s roots. The cafe's design is not just about aesthetics but also about creating a community space that reflects the neighbourhood and its people, and you get a sense of that when you walk in. The food  The Whippet offers an all-day brunch menu, so expect everything from the traditional big farm breakfast and eggs Benedict to smashed burger tacos and rump steak sandwiches. The Buttermilk Chicken Benedict is a best seller, and with good reason. Golden, crispy chicken paired with perfectly
Hyde Johannesburg Rosebank

Hyde Johannesburg Rosebank

4 out of 5 stars
When I pulled up to the matte black building that houses the Hyde Johannesburg Rosebank, I was instantly intrigued. What lay beyond those imposing walls? The façade gives very little away, but step inside and you will find a hotel as vibrant and cool as the neighbourhood it’s in. The lobby is a striking tribute to Johannesburg’s emerging talent, featuring a curated art collection. At its heart is Hyde’s iconic endless sofa, set against a dramatic six-metre custom screen adorned with over 1,200 handcrafted ceramic beads. Written on some of the beads, you’ll find popular song titles offering a glimpse into Hyde’s musical roots.   Why stay at Hyde Johannesburg Rosebank? Hyde might be new to Joburg, but the brand has been setting the mood since 2005. It all started on LA’s legendary Sunset Strip, where Hyde Lounge redefined nightlife with its electric atmosphere and velvet-rope mystique. Since then, Hyde has grown into a global lifestyle brand with hotels, beach clubs, mixology lounges, and residences, each one designed to keep that signature spirit alive. While every Hyde property shares the brand’s vibrant, bohemian-inspired DNA, each one is uniquely shaped by its surroundings, so no two are ever quite the same. The majority of the brand’s hotels are located in leisure destinations, which makes total sense when you consider that “The freedom of a festival” is one of their brand pillars, but as the first hotel in Africa, Hyde Hotel Rosebank hits the sweet spot between urban soph

Think you know vegan food? This new collaboration might change your mind

Think you know vegan food? This new collaboration might change your mind

There was a time when doing Veganuary in Johannesburg felt like a test of willpower. Fewer options, lots of compromise, and a lingering sense that you were missing out. Fast-forward to 2026, and the city has very clearly moved on. This January, going vegan, or even just eating a little more plant-forward, is easier, cheaper and far more exciting thanks to a new Veganuary Coupon Booklet: Joburg Edition, created by The Fussy Vegan in collaboration with some of the city’s best-loved vegan spots. Think less “health kick” and more “let’s eat well”. The booklet brings together withHĂ€rt, The Vegan Chef, Vicky’s Veganry, Asian Herbivore and The Jozi Vegan, offering buy-one-get-one deals, meal specials and enough incentive to plan your January lunches (and coffees, and baked-goods runs) around plant-based food. What makes this feel different is that it doesn’t preach. You don’t have to declare yourself vegan on 1 January or overhaul your entire lifestyle. Instead, it taps into something Joburg does well: trying new things because they’re fun, flavourful and genuinely good. If you’ve ever said, “I could probably eat vegan more often”, this is the nudge you didn’t know you needed. It also speaks to how far the city’s food scene has come. Vegan food in Joburg is no longer a niche reserved for the already converted. It’s comfort food, indulgent pastries, bold Asian flavours and creative cooking that stands on its own – no disclaimers required. The booklet, which offers over R600 in saving

Record UJ applications for 2026: What it means for Joburg

For many Joburg households, January comes with a familiar knot of anxiety: matric results are out, university offers are rolling in (or not), and the clock is ticking. This year, that pressure is sharper than ever. The University of Johannesburg reports that it has received a record number of applications for the 2026 academic year, with more than 450,000 applicants submitting nearly 870,000 study choices before the application deadline in October. The numbers tell a familiar story in South Africa’s higher education landscape: demand continues to outstrip available space. Despite the surge in interest, UJ’s undergraduate first-year intake remains capped at 11,200 students, in line with national enrolment limits. Final offers are currently being processed following the release of matric results, and many strong applicants will inevitably be left without a place, a reality thousands of Joburg families will face. So why the rush? Johannesburg remains one of the country’s largest hubs for education and opportunities, drawing school leavers, gap-year students and career-switchers alike. UJ’s central role in the city, combined with its academic reputation and career-focused offerings, has made it a first-choice institution for many, even as competition intensifies. The digital pathway With traditional campus places falling short, the conversation is shifting towards alternative pathways, and the university has leaned into this. Launched last year, UJ Digital offers more than 80 sh

Club 1BD adds second Johannesburg show after first date sells out

Johannesburg’s January nightlife scene is giving December a run for its money. Club 1BD has added a second Johannesburg date on January 18, following the sell-out of the original January 17 show - and locals are buzzing. The original date at Mamakashaka and friends drew huge demand from party-goers eager to experience what the global buzz around Club 1BD is all about. So much so that organisers quickly announced an additional show to meet the crowd’s appetite, a rare but telling move in a city known for its competitive events calendar. Why the Hype? Club 1BD isn’t just another night out; it’s a culture-driven party experience that aims to bring the carefree energy of a house party to the club stage. Founded by NYC-based DJ David, the brand has built a reputation for nostalgic DJ sets that blend genres and eras, marrying hip-hop, R&B, throwback hits, and dance-floor favourites into an immersive vibe that feels both familiar and fresh. The result? A crowd-pleasing atmosphere that’s less about staged performances and more about collective celebration, where you can dance all night long, meet new people, and feel part of something bigger than your average Saturday. Add to that the global nature of the Club 1BD tour, which includes stops across cities in North America and other international hotspots, and it’s clear why Johannesburgers were quick to snap up tickets. @club1bd 🇿🇩 Jozi you asked, we listened. There’s a new parkrun destination on the East Rand

There’s a new parkrun destination on the East Rand

Joburgers have a new reason to lace up their takkies. Carnival City has officially joined Joburg’s parkrun map, giving East Rand residents (and anyone keen for a change of scenery) another weekly destination to clock an easy, commitment-free 5km. Taking place every Saturday at 8am, parkrun is free, inclusive, and designed for all fitness levels. You can walk, jog, run, bring the kids, push a pram or show up with zero expectations beyond putting one foot in front of the other. It’s exactly the kind of low-pressure movement that makes fitness habits stick. Beyond the physical benefits, parkrun is also known for its mental health boost and strong sense of community. It’s social without being intense, structured without being intimidating, and if you’re a Discovery Vitality member, the 300 points are a welcome bonus. What to expect from Carnival City parkrun The Carnival City parkrun is a one-lap, relatively flat course, making it especially beginner-friendly. The start and finish are located behind the casino on Century Road, providing a safe and accessible route for both walkers and runners. It’s also a great option if you’re looking to mix up your usual parkrun rotation or explore new parts of Joburg while staying active. How parkrun works Getting involved is refreshingly simple: Register once on the parkrun website (Discovery members can sign up via a direct link) and download your personal barcode. Arrive before 8am on Saturday, scan your barcode after finishing, and you’ll

Where Joburg singles are meeting people right now

If you’ve officially reached the “I can’t do another dating app conversation” stage of your life, let 2026 be the year that you do things a little differently. Thursday, the global IRL (In Real Life) dating movement, which landed in Johannesburg late last year, has been shaking things up. The appeal is simple: show up, order a drink (or a coffee), and meet other single people, in real life, just like we used to do before apps turned dating into a full-time administrative job. The concept isn’t speed dating, and it’s not awkward mixers either. Thursday events take over bars, cafĂ©s and unexpected venues around the city, creating relaxed social spaces where everyone there is single. No pressure or forced games, just a room full of people who’ve decided they’re done hiding behind their phones. And yes, people actually talk to each other. From cocktails to a ‘Running rave’ What makes Thursday feel different is that it’s less about “dating events” and more about shared experiences. One night might look like a packed cocktail bar with DJs and low lighting; another might be something completely left-field. Case in point: on Saturday, 24 January, Thursday is hosting a Running Rave at Get Bird Coffee, a morning social run that swaps awkward small talk for movement, music and caffeine. Nothing like a little light cardio, good vibes, and post-run coffee chats with fellow singles who also thought, “Why not meet someone before 9 am for once?” It’s part workout, part social experiment, and

Early access for Rugby’s Greatest Rivalry Tour announced

South African rugby fans can officially start planning ahead: the legendary All Blacks are heading back to Mzansi in August and September 2026 for an epic eight-match tour that will reignite one of sport’s most intense rivalries, with Johannesburg hosting some of the tour’s biggest moments. Johannesburg is in for a big week. The Milk + Cookies Festival touches down at the Nasrec Expo Centre this weekend, but the celebrations don’t start or end on festival day. Instead, the global music platform has rolled out a Milk + Cookies Music Week, turning Joburg into a hub of conversations, collaboration and culture from today. Known for blending music, fashion and youth culture, Milk + Cookies’ Joburg edition goes beyond the stage, creating spaces for creatives, runners, artists and industry insiders to connect across the city. Music Week kicks off today The week begins on Tuesday, 7 January, with the Dot Connectors Music Panel at ALX. Running from 10 am to 6 pm, the panel and networking forum brings together leaders across music, media, tech, fashion and culture to unpack career pathways and share real-world insights, a strong nod to Joburg’s reputation as a city of hustlers and tastemakers. Later this evening, things shift from talk to vibe with the Out The Oven: Merch Pop-Up at Neighbarhood. From 6 pm to 1 am, expect exclusive merch drops, DJs and creator-led energy, a warm-up moment that sets the tone for the rest of the week. A first-year’s guide to Johannesburg universities and the neighbourhoods around them

A first-year’s guide to Johannesburg universities and the neighbourhoods around them

Starting university in Johannesburg is about more than lectures, timetables and student cards.  It’s about learning the city, figuring out where to eat between classes, where to decompress after exams, and which neighbourhoods slowly start to feel like home. For many, attending university is the first time they're truly on their own, and that's a good thing, but it can also be a little scary. Whether you’re new to Joburg or just new to campus life, here’s a quick, city-savvy guide to Joburg’s major universities and what to do around them. University of the Witwatersrand (Wits) Where: Braamfontein The vibe: Academic, activist, inner-city energy Wits sits right in the thick of the city, and that’s part of its appeal. The campus is walkable, historic and deeply tied to Joburg’s political and cultural history. Around campus: Wits is woven into the fabric of Braamfontein, one of Joburg’s most energetic inner-city neighbourhoods. Students are spoiled for choice when it comes to coffee, with spots like Father Coffee and Bean There nearby, while casual eateries and late-night bites are always within reach. For a culture fix, Constitution Hill, the Wits Art Museum and the Origins Centre sit within walking distance. After hours, the city comes alive with venues like Untitled Basement, Mamakashaka and Play Braamfontein, making it easy to switch from lectures to nightlife without leaving the neighbourhood. Braamfontein is ideal if you enjoy being in the heart of the action. It’s busy, cr
Why New Year’s resolutions rarely last and what Joburgers can do instead

Why New Year’s resolutions rarely last and what Joburgers can do instead

Every January, the same ritual plays out. Gym memberships spike, detox plans trend, and social media feeds are flooded with promises of “New Year, New Me”. For a few weeks, motivation is high and intentions are pure. But by February, many of those resolutions have quietly slipped away like Homer Simpson disappearing into that hedge. The reality is that many New Year’s resolutions are short-lived, unrealistic, and difficult to sustain, especially in a city like Johannesburg, where January brings its own unique pressures. A tradition older than Joburg itself While resolutions may feel like a modern obsession, the idea dates back more than 4,000 years. The ancient Babylonians marked the New Year by making promises to their gods, pledging to repay debts and reaffirm their loyalty to the king. Keeping those promises was believed to bring divine favour. The Romans followed suit, and even the early Christians used the turn of the year as an opportunity for reflection and renewal. Fast-forward to today, and resolutions have become largely secular and centred on self-improvement rather than spiritual reflection. Yet despite thousands of years of practice, humans still struggle to stick to them. Studies show that while many people set resolutions, fewer than 10% maintain them for the full year. Why resolutions often fail According to dietitian Mbali Mapholi, most resolutions collapse because they’re driven by pressure rather than planning. “People aim for dramatic change when what actu

TikToker’s ‘Joburg holiday’ goes wild after booking multi-country safari by mistake

What was meant to be a simple Johannesburg city break turned into an eight-day, multi-country adventure after a TikToker accidentally booked a tour spanning Southern Africa, and the internet can’t get enough of it. When TikToker @ericlinguine touched down in Johannesburg expecting a classic city holiday, he arrived armed with little more than a suitcase and good intentions. Instead, he was greeted by fellow travellers sporting backpacks, sleeping bags and a very different itinerary. Cue realisation: this was not, in fact, a Joburg-only tour. The now-viral mishap reveals that Eric had unknowingly booked an eight-day overland journey that would take him not only through South Africa, but also onward to Botswana, Zimbabwe, and Zambia, complete with long drives, patchy electricity, and very little room for wheeled luggage. His first order of business? A last-minute supermarket dash to stock up on essentials before trading city comforts for the open road. Social media has embraced the saga for its perfect blend of chaos, comedy and unexpectedly breathtaking scenery. What began as a travel fail quickly evolved into a reminder of how wildly diverse and expansive travel in Southern Africa can be. For Joburgers, the story is relatable and funny because Johannesburg is often underestimated by visitors, who often see it merely as a gateway to safaris or neighbouring countries, rather than a destination in its own right.  One can’t help but wonder what the TikToker might have experienced
Resilience, rituals, and resistance: What Joburg taught us in 2025

Resilience, rituals, and resistance: What Joburg taught us in 2025

Johannesburg doesn’t do quiet years. It does layered ones, full of contrast, challenge, and moments of unexpected beauty. In 2025, the city reminded us that while the headlines are often heavy, the stories beneath them tell a more hopeful truth. Through the stories we covered at Time Out Johannesburg this year (from major cultural moments to grassroots regeneration), a few clear lessons emerged. Here’s what Joburg taught us in 2025, what we’re leaving behind, and what we’re carrying into 2026. Joy isn’t optional, it’s how Joburg survives From packed dance floors to sold-out concerts and festival crowds that showed up despite everything, 2025 reminded us that joy is one of this city’s most radical acts. As we reported on events like Fabric’s return to the city and packed live shows across Johannesburg, one thing became clear: joy is not indulgent here, it’s necessary. In a city that’s fast-paced and constantly under pressure, choosing joy became a form of resistance and a reminder that celebration doesn’t mean denial; it means survival. What we’re taking into 2026: more dancing, more live music, more moments that make us feel alive. What we’re leaving behind: guilt about enjoying ourselves. The inner city is wounded, but not without hope The challenges facing Joburg’s CBD were impossible to ignore this year, from crumbling buildings to heartbreaking violence. However, alongside that, we shared stories of regeneration, youth development, and community-led solutions. From youth-
Joburg tightens fireworks rules ahead of New Year’s Eve celebrations

Joburg tightens fireworks rules ahead of New Year’s Eve celebrations

As Johannesburg gears up to ring in the New Year, the City’s Emergency Management Services (EMS) has issued a clear warning: fireworks are allowed but only within strictly regulated timeframes and conditions. Speaking to 702’s Africa Melane, City of Johannesburg EMS spokesperson Kagiso Phasha confirmed that residents may only discharge fireworks on New Year’s Eve between 11 pm and 1 am, and again on New Year’s Day from 7 pm to 10 pm. Anyone found setting off fireworks outside these hours faces fines. But time restrictions aren’t the only rules in play. Fireworks are strictly prohibited within 500 metres of petrol stations, explosive factories or storage facilities, as well as on public roads or in areas where animals are present. Gated estates may also enforce their own regulations, which residents are expected to follow. The City is also cracking down on the illegal sale of fireworks, particularly roadside and informal trading. According to Phasha, buying fireworks from unlicensed sellers poses a serious safety risk, as there is no way of knowing how or where the fireworks were manufactured. “Just like food, if you buy from an unreliable source, it can make you sick; fireworks are no different,” he said. To prevent incidents, EMS teams will be conducting fire safety and emergency compliance operations across Johannesburg in the lead-up to New Year’s Eve. These inspections will focus on the safe storage and handling of fireworks, as well as identifying blocked emergency exits
