In the world of South African reality TV, few figures manage to balance the spotlight with as much grace and groundedness as Keneilwe Mpolokeng Mbobosi. Known to many as one of the standout stars of The Real City Makoti, Keneilwe has become a symbol of the modern "City Makoti", a woman effortlessly navigating the intersection of urban ambition and deep-seated traditional values.  But when she isn’t filming or sharing the complexities of her journey with viewers across the country, she is a true Joburger at heart. For Keneilwe, the city is more than just a backdrop; it’s a source of constant inspiration. "The most inspiring thing about Joburg right now," she says, "is that it is evolving and being recognised as a creative capital where artists and creatives are redefining culture in their own terms." Whether she’s hunting for custom local designs or enjoying a quiet family day in the parks, Keneilwe’s version of "the good life" is as curated as it is authentic. So, what does a "perfect Joburg life" look like for her? It’s a seamless blend of wellness, high fashion, and long lunches. She says she isn’t about the polished, "perfect" life; she’s about the real one. “Showing an authentic version of my life was important. If someone is watching and thinking, “Oh, I struggle with that too,” then I’ve done my job,” she explains. Originally from Cape Town, Anika has embraced the high-octane energy of Gauteng and believes that Johannesburg has shaped her experience as a wife and mother by forcing her to find balance. “It's a city that demands ambition and independence, while still reminding you of your roots. Johannesburg has always been a city with a soundtrack. From the distant hum of the highway to the rhythmic pulse of its inner-city streets, the City of Gold is defined by its noise. We chat with local personalities, tastemakers, and city enthusiasts to unlock their favourite spots and untold stories. Forget the guidebooks, this is authentic Joburg. In a city that moves as fast as Johannesburg, keeping up is an art form. For creator Chanley Wong, the magic lies in the city’s refusal to stand still. “As a creator, Joburg is constantly evolving and surprising us,” Chanley says. “Whether it’s a music festival, run clubs, coffee raves, a rooftop sundowner, or a local chef’s new menu, the city never feels static, and that energy is contagious and inspiring.” But beyond the events and the skylines, Chanley finds her spark in the grit and heart of the streets. To her, Joburg feels alive because of its people: “There’s an authenticity and resilience that makes the city feel like a place where anything can happen.” If you’re looking for a fresh way to spend your weekend, whether that’s a guided skate tour through Maboneng or a wholesome night out in Sandton, take a page out of Chanley’s playbook.  MORE CELEBS SHARE THEIR LOCAL SECRETS Jacaranda FM's DJ Ankletap shares his ultimate guide to the City of Gold J'Something on his Jozi Favourites J Ross on his local gems that make Johannesburg special Jonathan Boynton-Lee on his favourite ways to soak up Joburg's charm Wayne Boucher on his Joburg hit list
The 8 best outdoor restaurants in Johannesburg

The 8 best outdoor restaurants in Johannesburg

There's something about eating outdoors that transforms a meal into an occasion. Truly, there's eating… and then there's eating outdoors. And though no self-respecting South African would ever turn down a good braai, there’s also something to be said about an outdoor meal which doesn’t feature a boerie roll. Al fresco dining – essentially eating outside – may have European origins, but Joburg's climate makes it feel purpose-built for long lunches on terraces and dinners under oak trees. Summer here begs for meals where the setting matters as much as what's on your plate. These Johannesburg restaurants have perfected the art of al fresco dining. Mira

Mira

4 out of 5 stars
Located in the heart of Sandton, Mira opened its doors late last year after a mysterious social media build-up that had me wondering: would this restaurant live up to the hype? After stopping by twice since opening, I’m happy to report that the answer is yes. Set within the Sandton Sun precinct, Mira is a 200-seater Mozambican-Portuguese restaurant that feels both transportive and deeply rooted in Joburg’s love for quiet luxury. It’s the kind of place that makes you slow down the moment you step inside, and in Sandton, that’s no small thing. The Vibe Mira is designed to flex with whatever the moment calls for. Corporate catch-ups, date nights, celebratory dinners and indulgent evenings out all feel equally at home here. Despite its size, the restaurant never feels vast; the layout creates a sense of sophistication and intimacy that’s carefully considered. Every detail contributes to the atmosphere. From the curated art and music to the lighting and textures, nothing feels accidental. There’s an undeniable sense of polish here, refined but not stiff, making Mira feel like a destination rather than just another new opening. The Food Mira’s menu draws inspiration from Mozambique and Portuguese home cooking. For starters, the Lulas Fritas (deep-fried squid heads served with Mira-made tartare) are indulgent and deeply satisfying. The Mussel Pot, served in a creamy garlic sauce and white wine, is rich yet light and perfect for sharing. I didn’t share mine, a choice I would later re
The Greenhouse

The Greenhouse

5 out of 5 stars
In a city known for its vibrant restaurant scene, The Greenhouse in Sandton stands out as a benchmark of luxury dining and sophisticated ambience. This venue, nestled within a stunning, plant-filled glasshouse, consistently delivers an atmosphere where high-end cuisine meets curated glamour. Earlier this year, this reputation for excellence was solidified with an exciting partnership with the celebrated Shortmarket Club. This collaboration merged Joburg style with Cape Town's flair. The result is a dining experience that feels both familiar and deeply exclusive. The Vibe Every Joburger knows the late-night glamour of The Greenhouse. The restaurant called itself “South Africa’s first authentic supper club”. In a way, it reimagined dining as a fully immersive, sensory experience. Sunset cocktails glide effortlessly into decadent dinners and, eventually, late-night dancing. However, the addition of a lunchtime service was the daring move we didn't know we needed. It was quiet when we visited, as lunch at the Greenhouse is still a new concept. Lunchtime services only launched in November. Still, the lush, plant-draped courtyard looks just as good when the sun hits it at midday. The Food Designed with lazy, lingering afternoons in mind, The Greenhouse's new lunch menu offers a brilliant range of options. Choices include light pick-me-ups to rich, deeply satisfying plates. The difficulty isn't finding something good; it's choosing just one. (No, really, I ordered two mains.) I k
Lacuna Bistro

Lacuna Bistro

4 out of 5 stars
Tucked inside The Maslow Hotel in Sandton, Lacuna Bistro offers a calm, contemporary escape from the fast-paced business district outside its doors. With its glass-lined dining room overlooking the hotel’s manicured gardens and pool, it’s the kind of spot where you can shift gears effortlessly, from boardroom mode to a relaxed, quietly indulgent meal. Whether you’re staying at the hotel or simply looking for a refined dining experience in the heart of Sandton, Lacuna proves there’s more to this business-focused address than meets the eye.  The Vibe By day, Lacuna Bistro is a relaxed space that readily welcomes family breakfasts at the buffet, the business crowd for lunch, and afternoon drinks with the girls. By night (and on Fridays in particular), it transforms into a moody space that effortlessly welcomes couples (or even friends) seeking a refined night out. With the lights low and a lounge singer crooning soothing tunes in the background, the atmosphere fosters an intimate ambience.   The Food The menu at Lacuna is a fusion of Mediterranean-style dishes rooted in South African culinary heritage. It was recently reimagined and updated, and is a tight collection of both comfort food and speciality dishes. During our visit, we indulged in the restaurant’s limited-edition Fivefold Indulgence menu, a lavish five-course offering. Our meal began with a golden prawn arancini amuse-bouche, served with marinara aioli, a crisp and flavourful start. Starters followed, and we opted
The Maslow Sandton

The Maslow Sandton

3 out of 5 stars
Sandton has no shortage of polished hotels, but few strike the balance between business efficiency and quiet indulgence quite like The Maslow Hotel. Secure in its identity as a specialist business hotel, it delivers precisely what you’d expect,  yet still manages to surprise with thoughtful touches that go beyond the boardroom. I’ve always been intrigued by the shape of The Maslow. From the right angle, it looks a bit like a cruise ship, a clever architectural “Jedi mind trick,” perhaps, designed to shift guests from business to leisure mode. Whatever the intention, it works. Once inside, you feel a welcome sense of distance from the bustle of Sandton’s financial district. Why stay at The Maslow Sandton Located in the heart of Sandton’s financial hub, just a few minutes from the Gautrain station, The Maslow is tailored for the modern traveller who values both productivity and comfort. It’s equipped with sleek conference rooms, high-speed internet, and hybrid-ready meeting spaces. A complimentary shuttle to the Gautrain and Sandton City adds convenience, while a private chauffeur service is available for those who prefer a more personalised experience. Beyond the boardroom, the hotel’s lush gardens and pool area offer a tranquil escape from the city’s buzz, a surprisingly peaceful spot in the heart of the hustle and bustle. It’s no wonder The Maslow is starting to find a new identity as a date-night destination too. What are the rooms like at The Maslow Sandton? The Maslow fea

The clash comes at a tough time for the Buccaneers, who’ll be fresh off their CAF Champions League second preliminary round tie just a week earlier, but if there’s one thing Pirates fans know, it’s that pressure brings out their best. The Whippet

The Whippet

5 out of 5 stars
Housed in the historic Old Linden Hotel, The Whippet is a bright, airy café that celebrates Linden’s farming heritage while serving some of the city’s most acclaimed coffee. Recognised internationally,  it was voted one of the Top 100 Best Coffee Shops in the World in Madrid, Spain, 2025. The café effortlessly combines a nod to the suburb’s past with a modern, design-conscious vibe, making it a must-visit for both locals and visitors alike. The vibe  At 10 am on a Wednesday, The Whippet in Linden is relatively busy. Most tables inside have people at them, which is unsurprising since the café strikes the perfect balance between casual comfort and thoughtful detail. During the week, the café attracts a mix of business people and casual diners, while on weekends, families, runners, and even furry friends fill the sunlit space. The interior walks the line between industrial edge and inviting warmth with exposed brick, golden light fixtures, and sleek wood panelling that nods to the building’s 1950s roots. The cafe's design is not just about aesthetics but also about creating a community space that reflects the neighbourhood and its people, and you get a sense of that when you walk in. The food  The Whippet offers an all-day brunch menu, so expect everything from the traditional big farm breakfast and eggs Benedict to smashed burger tacos and rump steak sandwiches. The Buttermilk Chicken Benedict is a best seller, and with good reason. Golden, crispy chicken paired with perfectly
Hyde Johannesburg Rosebank

Hyde Johannesburg Rosebank

4 out of 5 stars
When I pulled up to the matte black building that houses the Hyde Johannesburg Rosebank, I was instantly intrigued. What lay beyond those imposing walls? The façade gives very little away, but step inside and you will find a hotel as vibrant and cool as the neighbourhood it’s in. The lobby is a striking tribute to Johannesburg’s emerging talent, featuring a curated art collection. At its heart is Hyde’s iconic endless sofa, set against a dramatic six-metre custom screen adorned with over 1,200 handcrafted ceramic beads. Written on some of the beads, you’ll find popular song titles offering a glimpse into Hyde’s musical roots.   Why stay at Hyde Johannesburg Rosebank? Hyde might be new to Joburg, but the brand has been setting the mood since 2005. It all started on LA’s legendary Sunset Strip, where Hyde Lounge redefined nightlife with its electric atmosphere and velvet-rope mystique. Since then, Hyde has grown into a global lifestyle brand with hotels, beach clubs, mixology lounges, and residences, each one designed to keep that signature spirit alive. While every Hyde property shares the brand’s vibrant, bohemian-inspired DNA, each one is uniquely shaped by its surroundings, so no two are ever quite the same. The majority of the brand’s hotels are located in leisure destinations, which makes total sense when you consider that “The freedom of a festival” is one of their brand pillars, but as the first hotel in Africa, Hyde Hotel Rosebank hits the sweet spot between urban soph

Is this Joburg’s next great neighbourhood? Inside the Tutu Precinct plans

Is this Joburg’s next great neighbourhood? Inside the Tutu Precinct plans

The heart of the Johannesburg inner city is set for a spiritual and structural facelift. The Johannesburg Development Agency (JDA) has officially greenlit a 12-month initiative to develop the Archbishop Desmond Tutu Precinct, a project aimed at weaving the legacy of the "Arch" into the very fabric of the city’s streets. Centred around the historic St Mary’s Cathedral, the precinct isn't just a tribute; it’s a massive play for urban regeneration. Here is what you need to know about the plan to transform our downtown core. The vision: Dignity and design This isn't just about statues and plaques. The JDA and the City’s Transport Department are focusing on "people-centred development". The goal is to transform a section of the city often bogged down by congestion into a vibrant, walkable, and inclusive urban environment. The precinct aims to honour Tutu’s lifelong commitment to justice and human dignity by creating public spaces that feel safe, sustainable, and accessible to everyone - from daily commuters to weekend tourists. Where is it happening? The study area for the new precinct plan covers a significant chunk of the inner city, encompassing Wards 59, 60, 123, and 124. If you are navigating the CBD, you can visualise the transformation zone as a large urban box bounded by Sophie De Bruyn Street to the north and Commissioner Street to the south, with the eastern edge defined by Claim and Mooi Streets and the western border extending to Harrison Street. Sparkys takes Waterfall: From ghost kitchen to burger empire

Sparkys takes Waterfall: From ghost kitchen to burger empire

Johannesburg’s burger scene is notoriously competitive, but Sparkys, the retro-cool, burger sensation, is proving that staying power is all about the soul of the patty. Fresh off successful runs in Melrose, Craighall, and Bryanston, Sparkys has officially planted roots in Waterfall, marking the brand's fourth location. I sat down with co-founder Michael Sparkes to discuss how a humble delivery experiment transformed into a burgeoning retail empire. The curiosity that built a brand It’s hard to believe that the Sparkys we know today, with its distinctive retro diner vibe, was never supposed to have a front door. "The original Sparky's vision was to simply do dark or ghost kitchens," Sparkes reveals. The plan was to live exclusively on delivery apps like Uber Eats and Mr D. However, the residents of Melrose had other ideas. "People just started opening our door at our first Melrose location. Curiosity killed the cat, and the idea for retail was born thereafter." That pivot from ghost to guest has paid off. The decision to expand into Waterfall wasn't just about following the numbers; it was about waiting for the right moment in a suburb that has seen mind-blowing development over the last five years. Gabriella BrondaniCo-founders of Sparkys, Michael Sparkes and Nicholas McWilliams The secret sauce: consistency and real ingredients As Sparkys scales up, the challenge remains: how do you keep a burger tasting like it came from a passion-led startup when you’re opening your four
From Joburg to the world: TANG Sandton reimagines luxury for year five

From Joburg to the world: TANG Sandton reimagines luxury for year five

Johannesburg’s Richest Square Mile just got a significant dose of international flair. Last night, TANG Sandton hosted a VIP grand reopening to unveil a meticulously refreshed space that feels less like a local haunt and more like a high-end destination in Dubai or London. The atmosphere was a masterclass in relaxed luxury. As you step through the entrance, the hustle of Sandton melts away, replaced by a world-class aesthetic that emphasises organic textures and high-end craftsmanship. It’s a design language that mirrors the brand’s Dubai restaurant while remaining firmly rooted in its South African birthplace. A love letter to Joburg While founder and CEO Nicky van der Walt couldn't attend in person (his Dubai baby needed attention), his wife, Lee-Ann Liebenberg, was there to hold down the fort, as he shared a heartfelt video message with the room. For van der Walt, this "more than a facelift" renovation is a gift back to the city that started it all. "We are turning five in May, and I think this is a fitting way to go into our fifth year," van der Walt said. "This is a testament to our investment back into South Africa. Although our brand has expanded internationally, our roots will always firmly remain here. The store is like a first child to me." He emphasised that while the look has been slightly enhanced, the soul of Tang, its hospitality, remains untouched. In a thoughtful nod to the future, he added, "In the age of AI, hospitality, humans serving human beings, is goin

Why this 'hidden' underground wonder needs to be on your Joburg bucket list

Why this 'hidden' underground wonder needs to be on your Joburg bucket list

If you’ve lived in Johannesburg long enough, you know the Cradle of Humankind is for more than just school trips and fossil hunting. But while the crowds usually flock to the big-name sites, like Sterkfontein(which we love by the way), the Bothongo WonderCave remains one of the city’s best-kept (and deepest) secrets. Situated within the Bothongo Rhino & Lion Nature Reserve, this isn’t your average "squeeze through a gap caving" experience, which is something I’m secretly grateful for because I’m not a fan of tight spaces. It’s South Africa’s third-largest cave chamber, a massive, single-room underground world that feels more like a subterranean cathedral than a hole in the ground. Here is why you should be heading underground this weekend: The no-squeeze policy Forget about dusty overalls and military-style crawling. The WonderCave is famous for its accessibility. After a quick descent of 87 stairs (at a breezy 45-degree angle), a smooth elevator ride drops you 40 metres below the surface directly into the heart of the chamber. It’s wide, walkable, and entirely family-friendly. I managed to go up and down the stairs while pregnant, so I can vouch for the family-friendliness of the whole setup. Bothongo WonderCavesThe stairs leading into the Bothongo WonderCaves. A living masterpiece We tend to think of rocks as being lifeless, but this isn't just a stagnant rock formation. With 14 major formations still actively growing, you’re looking at living stones. From 15-metre-high s
Inside Hugh’s: Johannesburg's new home for world-class jazz

Inside Hugh’s: Johannesburg's new home for world-class jazz

Braamfontein has a new heartbeat, and it’s rhythmic, refined, and unapologetically world-class. Hugh’s Jazz Club, the latest production from the Play Braamfontein stable, isn’t just a music venue; it’s a "magical musical cube" designed to transcend its geography. Named in honour of the legendary Hugh Masekela, the club seeks to embody the spirit of a man who was an international bastion of sound. A masterclass in design Stepping into Hugh’s is designed to be a jaw-dropping experience. Proprietor Adam Levy, who hand-sketches every space he creates, has obsessed over the design and acoustics to ensure it rivals iconic global spots like London’s Ronnie Scott’s. It isn’t often that a club owner discusses “absorption components" and "glazing" with the same fervour most reserve for a cocktail list, but Adam Levy isn’t most owners. In our conversation, it became clear that the musical experience at Hugh’s was a point of great pride and a showcase of high-tech engineering. Levy described a "hyper-fastidious" approach to the room's sound. He wasn't satisfied with the typical bunker or basement feel of many local jazz spots. Instead, he brought in experts to create what he calls the best sound in South Africa. The secret sauce? Soundstop Glazing: Thick, specialised glass that prevents vibration and keeps the city's noise out while keeping the acoustics inside pristine. The details: From the laser-cut ceiling patterns to the specific absorption materials hidden in the walls and the par
Redemption for SA fans: Doja Cat set to headline Move Afrika in Pretoria

Redemption for SA fans: Doja Cat set to headline Move Afrika in Pretoria

The moment South African fans have been waiting for has finally arrived. After the heartbreak of last year’s Hey Neighbour Festival cancellation, Grammy-winning superstar Doja Cat is officially coming to South Africa (cue shrieks) Big Concerts and Global Citizen announced yesterday that the "Paint The Town Red" hitmaker will headline Move Afrika: Pretoria on 20 March 2026 at the SunBet Arena, Time Square. For Joburgers, the short drive to our neighbouring city is well worth it if you consider that some fans are prepared to board a plane just to catch Doja in action.  A second chance for the "Kittenz" For many local fans, this news serves as a massive sigh of relief. Doja Cat was originally slated to perform at the Hey Neighbour Festival in 2025, but the event was ultimately cancelled due to funding and logistical constraints, leaving ticketholders devastated. Now, through Global Citizen’s Move Afrika initiative, which aims to build a sustainable touring circuit across the continent, the singer is finally making her way to her father’s home country (we see you, Zandile girl!)  “From my South African roots straight to the world stage, we're bringing energy, purpose, and real change to Move Afrika... this isn't just a tour, it's a movement,” Doja Cat stated in the official release. Chasing gold in Milano: Malica Malherbe’s olympic journey so far

Chasing gold in Milano: Malica Malherbe’s olympic journey so far

While Johannesburg is more famous for its afternoon thunderstorms than its snow-covered slopes, the city has a major reason to tune into the 2026 Milano Cortina Winter Olympics this week. Malica Malherbe, the 21-year-old freestyle skier with deep roots in Joburg, has officially completed her debut Olympic Moguls run, marking a historic moment for South African winter sports. A lasting impression After an exciting opening round on Tuesday, where she placed 25th, Malica headed back to the slopes yesterday (Wednesday, 11 February) for the second qualification. Proving she has the tenacity of a true South African athlete, she significantly improved her performance, jumping from 55.85 to a solid 58.86. While her 17th-place finish in that round wasn't quite enough to break into the top-10 "Final 20," Malica leaves the Moguls event ranked 27th overall in the world, a massive feat for a first-time Olympian.  A Joburg connection on ice Though Malherbe grew up in the mountains of Canada, her heart and a large part of her family are right here in South Africa. Her parents, doctors Gerhard Malherbe and Carien Strydom, hail from the Southern Cape, but Malica is a frequent visitor to Johannesburg to spend time with relatives. Now, she’s representing the green and gold on the world’s biggest winter stage, proving that you don't need a Joburg winter to have the spirit of a South African champion. Breaking records for Team SA Malherbe isn't just skiing for herself; she's part of a historic de

“Where’s Your Head At?!” Basement Jaxx to headline KissKiss Festival 2026

Get ready to lose your head, South Africa. Legendary UK electronic duo Basement Jaxx will be headlining the upcoming KissKiss festival this April. Known for era-defining anthems like "Where's Your Head At" and "Red Alert," Felix Buxton and Simon Ratcliffe are set to bring their signature genre-bending energy to our shores. It’s a massive win for the local festival circuit, especially for those of us who grew up with their eclectic mix of house, punk, and grime. New theme, same ionic vibe While the festival maintains its beloved format from last year, focusing on a music-and-food eruption, there is a cryptic new twist for 2026. This year’s theme is aptly titled "Where’s Your Head At". Organisers have kept much of the magic under wraps but promise a "richly curated lineup that bridges the gap between generations. "Young and old, a perfect mix of both," a festival spokesperson told us. "We focus on rich experiences above all else." View this post on Instagram A post shared by @kisskiss__________ What to Expect KissKiss isn't just about the music; it's a culture-driven day out that emphasises: Global curations: A lineup from around the world that brings something for everyone. Sensory experiences: An energy focused on coming together, enjoying incredible food, and the great outdoors. Surprises: A festival that promises to "always keep you guessing." The festival hits the Mother City on Saturday, 11 April, before taking over Johannesburg on Sunday, 12 April.
The ultimate weekend road trip: Karyn White is heading to Sun City

The ultimate weekend road trip: Karyn White is heading to Sun City

Listen, we know Sun City isn't exactly around the corner, but for Johannesburgers, it’s practically our unofficial backyard. Whether it’s a spontaneous day trip or a full-blown out-of-office weekend, there’s a reason we all keep that R556 route on speed dial. This May, there’s a massive reason to make the two-hour drive: international R&B legend Karyn White is taking over the Sun City Superbowl for a one-night-only Magic Music Sessions show on Saturday, May 2nd. The perfect itinerary Why just go for the music when you can make a whole "Time Out" of it? Since the show starts in the evening (gates open at 5 pm), here’s how to angle your weekend: The Saturday Morning Drive: Leave Jozi by 9 am. It’s a smooth two-hour cruise through the Magaliesberg. Grab a coffee in Harties on the way to break the trip. Afternoon Vibes: Check in and head straight to the Valley of Waves. There’s nothing like the "Roaring Lagoon" to wash off the city's dust before a night of soul. The Main Event: Karyn White, the voice behind Superwoman and I’d Rather Be Alone, will be joined by local heavyweights Lira, Vusi Nova, and the soulful Babalwa M. It’s basically the ultimate R&B and Afro-Soul playlist come to life. Late Night Soul: Keep the energy going with sets by Kakanyothe DJ and DJ Nkosh before crashing at one of the resort’s four hotels (or the Vacation Club if you’ve got the points!). Why we’re making the trip Vertex Events’ Executive Director, Thato Segaole, says the team is ready to deliver an
Ndola just got a whole lot closer to Joburg

Ndola just got a whole lot closer to Joburg

Johannesburg’s role as Southern Africa’s great connector just got a boost. From late March 2026, Airlink will increase flights between OR Tambo International Airport and Ndola in Zambia’s Copperbelt.  The new timings are quietly game-changing for business travellers, frequent flyers, and anyone who prefers spending less time in transit and more time actually being somewhere. The regional airline is adding a second flight on the Johannesburg–Ndola route three times a week, complementing its existing daily service. The highlight is the morning arrivals into Joburg from Ndola. These flights mean same-day meetings, smoother onward connections, and far fewer bleary-eyed hours at the airport. For Joburgers, this reinforces what we already know: OR Tambo isn’t just South Africa’s busiest airport, it’s one of the most important gateways on the continent. Ndola, Zambia’s third-largest city and the capital of the Copperbelt, has long been a hub for mining and industry. But it’s also fast becoming a central logistics and transport hub for the region, linking Zambia to the Democratic Republic of Congo and beyond. The expanded schedule reflects growing movement between the two cities, driven by business, trade, and an increasing appetite for regional travel. Supporting bleisure Airlink’s additional service is clearly designed with productivity in mind. Morning arrivals into Johannesburg make it easier for travellers to get straight into meetings in Gauteng. At the same time, the airline’s

Move over, Paris. Take a backseat, Lagos. When it comes to the rhythm of the bedroom, Johannesburg is officially leading the pack. According to new research from our Time Out Loud community, Joburgers are the most sexually active in Africa, clocking in an average of 8.1 times per month. That puts the City of Gold at the top of the continental leaderboard, comfortably beating out the likes of Lagos, Nigeria (6.5 times) and even Ankara, Turkey (6.7 times) on the global scale. Work hard, play harder We’ve always known that Johannesburg is a city of high energy. We’re the economic powerhouse, the city of hustle, and the home of the 24-hour lifestyle. But this new data proves that the "work hard, play hard" ethos extends well beyond the boardrooms of Sandton and the trendy offices of Rosebank. While Lagos might have taken the crown for "most attractive people" in the survey (we see you, Nigeria!), Joburgers are the ones actually closing the deal. Perhaps it’s the thrill of a sunset cocktail at a rooftop bar in Maboneng, or maybe it’s just that famous Jozi confidence? What’s the secret? Is it the electric nightlife? The world-class dining scene? Or maybe it’s the fact that after a long day of navigating the M1, we all just need a little "stress relief"? While other cities in the survey found the topics of sex and flirting a bit too taboo to discuss, the Time Out Loud community in Joburg was loud, proud, and incredibly candid. Our city has always been a melting pot of cultures and p
