When it comes to cool, community-driven spaces, Johannesburg never disappoints. The city thrives on places where people can unwind - whether you’re seeking a peaceful solo moment surrounded by greenery or looking to connect with friends over good food and great vibes, and that's exactly what Nine Yards is all about.

Located in Parktown North, Nine Yards has officially launched, marking a new chapter for this much-loved space. In December 2025, Nine Yards, also known as Johannesburg's 'green town square', introduced its first phase, promising a fully activated precinct by late May 2026, and now that vision has come to life.

The official launch, held last week, brought together media, stakeholders, and community members for an immersive experience of the space. Guests enjoyed curated food, drinks, and conversations, all while exploring what Nine Yards has to offer.

Originally built as residential homes in the early 2000s, the site has been transformed into a collection of unique retail units and a creative lifestyle hub that celebrates craftsmanship, culture, food, and connection.

Taking to social media to celebrate the launch, Nine Yard wrote: "Beyond the architecture and design, this has always been about creating a place where people feel connected, to each other, to the environment and to the stories around them."

The space is rich in greenery, with lush gardens and shaded areas that invite visitors to slow down and reconnect with nature. At the same time, it offers a diverse mix of experiences, from artisanal coffee and fresh produce to wellness offerings, fashion, restaurants, and creative studios.

Whether you’re stopping by during the week for a quiet coffee or spending a weekend exploring with friends, Nine Yards is designed to be a place where community and creativity meet.

So, if you’re looking for a spot that blends good food, art, nature, and a strong sense of local culture, Nine Yards is definitely worth exploring.
