It is raining international stars as Grammy Award-winning musician and actor Miguel heads to South African shores.

The singer-songwriter joins a host of multigenerational artists set to land in Mzansi, including Teeks, Floetry, Brandy, Jill Scott and Kehlani. These artists will fill up venues this year, while Miguel will perform next year.

Not a newcomer to this beautiful country, Miguel is making a return after his 2013 visit. He will electrify Cape Town audiences at the Grand Arena on 21 May before hitting the Sun City Superbowl on 22 May, and closing off by serenading Gauteng fans at the SunBet Arena on 23 May.

Miguel first got a taste of the entertainment industry at the tender age of 13 as a studio assistant for a production called Drop Squad in his hometown in California, USA. However, his big break happened just over a decade later when he was 24, with the release of his critically acclaimed hit  All I Want Is You.

The acting bug also bit him, as Miguel has dabbled in acting by taking up roles in the drama Detroit and the animated Netflix film Fearless, among others. He has since gone on to become a force, with hits like Adorn, Do You, How Many Drinks? and many others.

As a producer, Miguel has also collaborated with US A-listers including Usher, Musiq Soulchild who wowed crowds in Pretoria and Cape Town in 2013 Mariah Carey, J Cole who is also expected to perform in South Africa this December, Diplo and many others.

Vertex Events Head of Events, Zizile Mtshali, said: “As an experiential events company, we look forward to curating yet another set of world-class shows that our audiences can enjoy and make memorable.”

Executive Director Thato Segoale said Vertex was all about getting bigger and better, and bringing Miguel to his South African fans for three amazing, live, world-class shows is what the company hopes to produce.

Tickets will be available for purchase in due course, retailing from R950.
