Johannesburg, get ready to find your magic. After spending the last few years dominating global stages from Glastonbury to SXSW, the blue-maned trailblazer Moonchild Sanelly has officially announced her highly anticipated return to the Jozi stage.

The show, titled FULL MOON – Return to Jozi, marks the first time Moonchild will perform her latest critically acclaimed album, Full Moon, live in her home city. Following a massive support slot for Doja Cat in Pretoria earlier this year, the artist felt a magnetic pull to curate a dedicated space for her original Jozi crowd.

Why this show matters

For Moonchild, this isn't just another tour stop; it’s a full-circle moment. Despite her international pedigree, boasting collaborations with Beyoncé, Gorillaz, and Wizkid, her heart remains firmly planted in the streets of Durban and Johannesburg, where her signature sound was born.

“I have toured the world with Full Moon, and bringing this show home to Johannesburg is everything to me,” says Moonchild. “To share my alternative sound with my original Jozi crowd means the absolute world… In fact, it means the Moon!”

High art, accessible vibes

In a move that stays true to her "people’s champ" energy, Moonchild has insisted on a purposely affordable ticket price, ensuring that the fans who championed her during the Rabulapha! era can witness her evolution into a global superstar.

Expect a setlist that bridges the gap between her South African anthems like "Midnight Starring" and "Makhe" and her new-age hits like "Scrambled Eggs" and "Do My Dance."

The details

  • The Event: FULL MOON – Return to Jozi
  • The Date: 30 May 2026
  • The Vibe: Future-ghetto-funk, high-fashion, and unapologetic empowerment.
  • Tickets: Early bird R100, GA R200 via Howler.

A global icon with local grit

Moonchild’s rise hasn't been a fluke. From breaking records with nine sets at Glastonbury to being named the coolest thing at SXSW by Rolling Stone, she has maintained her alternative edge in commercial spaces.

Her music serves as a testament to her survival and mental empowerment following the loss of her mother as a teenager, a raw energy she brings to every live performance.

Don’t miss the chance to see one of South Africa’s greatest exports reclaim her throne in the city that started it all.
