DJs Tira, Sox and Cndo join star-studded Oskido’s Big Day Out artist lineup

Pioneering Afro-house DJ Oskido (Oscar Mdlongwa) is going bigger and better with the third edition of his annual birthday celebration.

This year Oskido is bringing the Durban’s Finest duo, DJs Tira (Mthokozisi Khathi) and Sox (Mbusi Sokhela) alongside one of Mzansi’s first female DJs, DJ Cndo (Sindisiwe Zungu).

The event is still being hosted at Huddle Park in Linksfield, with the 2026 edition taking place on 28 November.

Kwaito, house and gqom collide

Dubbed Oskido’s Big Day Out, the event completely sold out during its inaugural edition in 2024 and went on to do the same thing last year.

The addition of Cndo and Durban’s Finest brings the KwaZulu-Natal city’s dance-music legacy and undeniable influence on South Africa’s overall entertainment scene spanning three decades.

Their presence seamlessly syncs with Oskido’s own legendary status as this is the city that birthed and coined the iconic Gqom era which evolved from Kwaito, producing hitmakers like Big Nuz, DJ Lag, Babes Wodumo, Dlala Thukzin and many others.

Oskido is not only a pioneering Afro-house DJ but he comes from the generation of cultural architects who shaped this country’s musical and overall entertainment landscape. His contributions even earned him the title the “Godfather" of South African dance music.

The third Big Day Out promises to amplify what has become Oskido’s signature assembly of established pioneers, influential DJs and other artists whose contributions to Mzansi’s music scene reverberate beyond our borders.

There’s no growth without sponsorships

Oskido has previously had the support of alcohol brands, logistics service providers as well as nightlife and retail sponsors. This year, FNB has also decided to throw its weight behind this venture.

This new partnership is just one more step in the financial services provider’s longstanding commitment to supporting arts and culture.

The bank’s CEO for Private Core Banking and Credit Card, Philani Potwana, acknowledged music’s unique ability to bring people together and create lasting memories.

He described the Big Day Out as a celebration of artists whose careers are symbolic of the importance of longevity, relevance and the lasting impact of strong foundations.

“This partnership allows us to connect with South Africans through authentic, culturally relevant experiences while helping them get more out of life and create meaningful moments with the people who matter most,” Potwana said.

This year’s lineup also features Liquideep, Mdu Masilela, DJ Fresh, Brothers of Peace and many others.
