#JacarandasEverywhere celebrates Johannesburg’s purple season, with cool prizes up for grabs.

Johannesburg has a different look when the Jacarandas are in bloom. The purple blooms have made their way across the city, lining residential roads and adding colour to Johannesburg's urban landscape. It's also the time of year when residents start sharing photographs of their favourite trees, whether spotted on the morning commute or just around the corner from home.
We recently teamed up with Jacaranda FM for the launch of Time Out Pretoria to bring you the best things to see, do and experience in the Jacaranda City - including the best streets to see Jacarandas in Pretoria. But of course, Johannesburg’s spectacular spring showing cannot be ignored!

Marisca Wakefield, Dahlia Street, Carletonville
Marisca Wakefield shared this photograph taken on Dahlia Street in Carletonville, where a mature Jacaranda spreads its branches overhead. Fallen blossoms have gathered beneath the tree, creating the purple carpet that so many people look forward to during spring.
"A little purple magic and a whole lot of spring happiness! Nothing beats the beauty of jacaranda season, when the streets turn purple, and even the ground becomes a carpet of blossoms!" says Marisca.
Courtney Freemantle, Eden Glen, Edenvale
Not all Jacaranda sightings happen along grand avenues. Courtney Freemantle found this purple beauty on the route to her youngest daughter's nursery school in Eden Glen, Edenvale. She says there aren't many large trees in the area, making the smaller ones along her daily route a welcome sight.
Zettie du Toit-Leech, Sunnyridge, Germiston
Zettie du Toit-Leech found her subject in the communal park in her enclosed area in Sunnyridge, Germiston. Her photograph shows a Jacaranda tree standing against a clear blue sky, with the surrounding green space providing a quieter setting away from the city's busier streets.
Heather Coskey, Jacaranda Avenue, Fourways
The name of this Fourways street seems particularly fitting at this time of year. Heather Coskey photographed the Jacarandas lining Jacaranda Avenue, where their branches stretch over the road, and the pavement is dusted with purple petals.
Tintswalo Chauke, 120 De Korte Street, Braamfontein
Johannesburg's inner city gets its own moment in the spotlight in Tintswalo Chauke's photograph from De Korte Street. The purple canopies stand against the surrounding buildings, bringing a splash of seasonal colour to this busy part of Braamfontein.
Have you spotted a Jacaranda worth photographing? There's still a chance to join Jacaranda FM's #JacarandasEverywhere celebration. Share your picture on social media, tag @JacarandaFM and include the hashtag and location of your sighting.
