Until 5 November, dance crews have the opportunity to secure their spot in one of the country’s most coveted talent competitions. A celebration of South Africa’s dance culture, the competition weaves together amapiano, pantsula, sbujwa, hip-hop and everything in between.
Now in its third edition, the Red Bull Mzansi Crew Battle 2026 requires participating crews to consist of two to six members aged 16 and above. To enter, crews must upload their performance video to social media, then submit the social media link on the Red Bull form.
The competition has been open since 23 October and, from this weekend, the brand will host workshops, kicking off at Soweto’s Finest Studio in Newtown on Saturday 31 October. On 1 November, the battle takes over Shakers and Movers Dance Academy in Mapetla, Soweto, and the final stop will be at the Mario Gomes Hip Hop Dance Academy at the Ruimsig Centre in Roodepoort on 7 November.
The crews will convene on 14 November at The Playground in Braamfontein for the final showdown, but there’s no rest for the young and talented because this same venue will be buzzing with dancers the very next day, when the SA National Final will crown the 2026 champions.
So, if you can’t submit an online audition, fear not. The crews participating in the national finals on 14 November will be selected from both the online entries and the live workshops taking place across the above-mentioned venues and dates.
In last year’s competition, the crews put up their best dance-off in a choreographed showcase and freestyle battles to local hits, with the judges selecting the best movers and shakers based on creativity, execution, style and crowd connection.
So, who will own the floor in 2026?
