Last weekend lit up with standout fashion and major wins for creators like Lasizwe Dambuza and Grace Mondlana.

Held at The Galleria in Sandton, the Samsung Content Creator Awards celebrated and validated the hard work of South Africa's vibrant digital community.

Glamour on the purple carpet

Fashion took centre stage on the purple carpet, where bold colours, sharp tailoring and sparkling details proved just how much style lives within the creative community. Sni Mhlongo and Lesego "Coconut Kelz" Tlhabi showed off the power of sustainable fashion at the event. Both creators rented their designer dresses through R’friqe to promote sustainability.

Other stars made unforgettable entrances. Titus "Mologadi" Mokou turned heads in a striking, all-red suit inspired by Zendaya, bringing a vibrant pop of colour to the carpet. Grace Mondlana looked like a dream in a dress from Treasury by Mihlali Ndamase. After sharing a quick wardrobe malfunction earlier in the day, she secured a backup look that was well worth the wait.

Inside the main hall, the energy was electric. Comedian Mpho "Popps" Modikoana, dressed by Boys of Soweto, kept the energy high while looking dapper throughout the event.

Big wins and celebrations

Among the evening's biggest winners was Grace, who took home two major trophies, specifically Trendsetter of the Year and Creator of the Year.

In her acceptance speech, Grace thanked everyone who voted for her and promised to keep doing what she does best. Showing their love, some audience members chanted ‘TGOM’ (The Gracious One Mondlana) as she stepped up to receive her awards.

After a full decade in the entertainment industry, Lasizwe Dambuza won the YouTube Creator of the Year award, marking another huge milestone in his career. In an emotional acceptance speech, Lasizwe thanked his supporters and the LGBTQI+ community. He also announced that he would donate his prize money to a community centre, a meaningful gesture that felt especially powerful during Pride Month.

Other notable winners included Vafa Naraghi, who won both Best Social Series and the Thumb-Stopping Award. Although Vafa could not attend in person, his brother accepted the honours on his behalf to huge cheers from fans. Yasmin Furmie finally got her flowers by receiving the Style Award. During her speech, she reminded the crowd that clothes are incredibly powerful and made her the style icon she is today.

The unforgettable evening featured exciting live performances that kept the audience entertained before guests headed to the official after-party hosted by Wav. Delicious canapés flowed freely as guests danced the night away celebrating their huge achievements.
