Johannesburg's pace is relentless. Between the traffic, the construction, and the constant hustle, finding a genuine escape can feel impossible. That's why, when I got the chance to check out the new Mangwanani The View, positioned right next to the massive Fourways Mall, I was curious.
Can a spa located this close to urban sprawl actually deliver the peace it promises? The answer, I'm happy to report, is a resounding yes.
The moment you step inside, the entire feel of the space shifts. The first thing that surprised me was the sheer scale of the place. It's quite large and beautifully designed. More importantly, it doesn't feel like you're inside a mall at all, one that was under construction, no less.
This is clearly not a quick-fix spa. Mangwanani The View feels like it was designed with the professional, the "city slicker," in mind, offering a necessary moment of surrender before diving back into the duties of everyday life.
The environment is meticulously curated, with tranquil soundscapes and the delicate scent of essential oils filling the air the moment you step inside.
According to Erin Limbert, CEO and Founder, the opening of Mangwanani The View holds deep meaning for the brand. "It represents not only growth but a continued commitment to empowerment and community. We are creating more opportunities for employment and training, while continuing to share Africa's sacred healing traditions with our guests."
In line with its founding vision, Mangwanani continues to champion skills development and meaningful employment for women from previously disadvantaged backgrounds.
An exclusive Moroccan oasis
The new Fourways location boasts a special feature that's a first for the brand: the Mangwanani Moroccan Room. This space weaves the rich, sensory opulence of North Africa with Mangwanani's signature African rituals, and it's pure heaven.
I had a head, neck and shoulder massage in the Moroccan Room. The space has a beautiful enveloping warmth, with aromatic oils and textured finishes that transport you to a luxurious riad. The therapist melted away all the tension I didn't even realise I was carrying. It was the perfect Molala (North African Head, Neck, and Shoulder Massage), designed to soothe tension.
What's on offer at Mangwanani The View?
Beyond the signature Moroccan experience, Mangwanani The View offers everything needed for a full reset. You can opt for their popular Half Day Spa Experiences (morning or afternoon), which include four hours of complete pampering, three signature treatments (like the relaxing iZimanga Full-Body Hot Stone Massage and Neo Maoto Royal African Foot Therapy), a delectable meal, and a decadent chocolate biscuit and Amarula on departure.
What I loved most was how the space provides a high-value opportunity for a bit of escape. This isn't just a facial and a manicure; it's an immersive, holistic experience that honours Africa's ancient healing wisdom.
If you need a proper, spacious, and sophisticated timeout, Mangwanani The View, officially open since November 1, 2025, is the new go-to. It's a genuine sanctuary where you can leave the stress of the city behind, if only for an afternoon.
