It is exciting and it is here... the new Metro Bus.
The bus service has unveiled its latest offering; a bus that comes with key features that will ensure commuters stay connected and arrive safely at their destinations.
The new Metro Bus has Wi-Fi to ensure commuters can stay informed and socially connected.
In addition, its exterior and interior look amazing thanks to new lighting and comfortable, stunning seats.
The bus also has a stop button that commuters can press to signal when they wish to get off.
Metrobus spokesperson Tshepo Nathan says the bus service is committed to ensuring the safety of its passengers and drivers. As a result, the new bus will feature a key security measure.
"The buses will have alcohol detectors. We don't want any of our drivers to start the bus if they have not been tested for alcohol. We want to emphasise the safety of commuters," Nathan told Time Out Johannesburg.
He added that there will be 34 new buses, however, they would be released in batches. The plan is to have them all operating by January 2026.
"By the end of January next year, we will have all 34 buses, but they come in batches. We have two already, one was displayed at the Rand Show," said Nathan.
