Volcanoes, silence, and striking design define César Lanzarote, an adults-only hideaway in La Asomada that’s become one of the island’s most distinctive boutique stays. Set in what was once César Manrique’s father’s home – later a village school – the hotel blends history, architecture, and art into a seamless celebration of Lanzarote’s volcanic landscape. It’s small, discreet, and built for peace and privacy, with just 20 rooms spread across tranquil gardens and sunlit terraces. Guests seeking calm, authenticity, and island soul will find it here, far from the bustle of the resorts.

Each room is bright and simply styled, with plants, soft towels, and beautiful bathtubs that feel utterly in tune with their surroundings. Many open directly onto private patios or the garden, offering uninterrupted views of the coast or volcanoes. The layout encourages seclusion, with hidden nooks where you can read, daydream and sunbathe in complete silence. The hotel’s centrepiece is its pool – arguably one of the most beautiful in the Canary Islands. Framed by stone windbreaks typical of La Geria, it’s both practical and picturesque, perfectly heated for breezier days and offering views that stretch as far as Fuerteventura. Around it, loungers are arranged for maximum privacy, reinforcing that sense of having the place to yourself.

Dining at Restaurant César Lanzarote is an experience in itself. The menu is concise and thoughtful, spotlighting local ingredients – think scarlet prawn from La Santa or crisped moray eel – and paired with an impressive selection of Canarian wines by the glass. Breakfast is à la carte, and light snacks and cocktails are served poolside, and there’s fantastic views from the rooftop terrace at sunset. Located near La Geria’s vineyards and within easy reach of Timanfaya and the island’s beaches, César Lanzarote is perfectly placed for exploration – or for doing absolutely nothing at all. Exclusive, tranquil, and deeply rooted in Lanzarote’s artistic spirit, this is luxury but completely redefined.

Time Out tip: Make sure to go by staff recommendations for wine at dinner – we tried some spectacular glasses this way.

Mynd Yaiza in Playa Blanca proves that a comfortable, relaxing stay in Lanzarote doesn’t have to come with a luxury price tag. This four-star hotel keeps things simple, calm and great value – a bright, friendly spot where families return year after year. Centred around clusters of low white buildings, it offers two zones: one designed for families, with pools, slides and water games, and another for adults wanting peace and quiet. Both areas feature large, inviting pools – one heated in each section – making swimming possible year-round. With around 230 rooms, Mynd Yaiza caters to everyone from solo travellers to families.

The décor is simple and practical, with plenty of space and balconies in most rooms. Sustainability runs through everything here, from eco materials to energy-saving systems. Some of the best rooms have swim-up pools, while others are designed for longer stays. Air conditioning is standard, though most guests make use of the ceiling fans and Lanzarote’s natural breeze. Food is unfussy and international, served buffet-style for breakfast and dinner. While it’s not the place for deep dives into Canarian cuisine, quality and variety are consistently solid.

The service is warm, familiar and efficient – the kind that comes with years of repeat visitors. Staff balance traditional hospitality with tech-friendly touches like self check-in, and guests often find themselves greeted by name. There’s also a full line-up of activities for both kids and adults, plus a small shop selling local products, including handmade soaps crafted by the hotel manager. Facilities focus on easy living: four pools, a small open-air spa and a gym. The beach is a five-minute walk away, while nearby attractions include Papagayo Beach, Los Hervideros cliffs, and ferries to Fuerteventura.

Time Out tip: You’ll want to get down early to nab a sun lounger – the pool fills up quickly come morning.

Hotel Fariones is a Lanzarote icon – the island’s first tourist hotel, opened in 1965 and fully renovated in 2020. It’s a masterclass in how to modernise a classic without losing its soul, combining five-star service, lush tropical gardens and a prime seafront location in Puerto del Carmen. Elegant yet authentic, it remains one of the island’s most dependable choices – the place locals still recommend for a few days of real island comfort. The 213 rooms all share a soft, modern aesthetic and open onto sea views. Some of the higher-category suites add jacuzzis and access to a private rooftop pool. Interiors are calm and natural, blending pale tones and warm materials that echo the surrounding landscape.

Food is central to the Fariones experience, thanks to Finca de Uga, the hotel’s own farm, which supplies cheeses, fruit and produce for its restaurants. Breakfast is lavish, with local ingredients and made-to-order dishes. Dining options include Erizo, offering cuisine inspired by the Macaronesian islands, and Kaori, an acclaimed Asian restaurant run by Víctor Planas – both considered among Lanzarote’s best.

Facilities include a central pool framed by palm trees, two jacuzzis overlooking the coast, a spa, and peaceful gardens that lead straight to two small coves and a broad sandy beach. It’s an ideal mix of privacy and oceanfront indulgence. Though set in lively Puerto del Carmen, the hotel’s calm, green setting keeps it blissfully removed from the crowds. Whether you stay by the pool or explore the island, the Fariones delivers timeless elegance and an unmistakable sense of place – proof that some classics don’t need reinventing.

Time Out tip: You’ve got direct access to three different beaches right on your doorstep – plenty of sunbathing opportunities.

4. Lani Suites de Luxe

This boutique, family-owned resort has some of the best service we’ve experienced anywhere in the world. Secluded but right on the beach (and with a killer location in central Puerto del Carmen), this 25-suite resort styles itself as a piece of heaven on Earth, and it is difficult to disagree with that. The suites epitomise luxurious comfort, offering all the modern conveniences with stunning sea views and a sense of homeliness that goes a long way in making a good trip a great one. The Suite Lanis is the undoubted star of the show, a huge home away from home, complete with an outdoor jacuzzi and staggeringly beautiful panoramic vistas. If you’re looking for utter relaxation in Lanzarote, you can do much worse than this pricey option. Of course, you can enjoy luxurious comfort here without breaking the bank, and you can’t go wrong with any of the suites.

The resort boasts an exceptional gourmet restaurant, serving sumptuous dishes from the Canary Islands and the wider world, and the breakfasts are the perfect start to the day. As you can tell, there’s plenty to love about this place. The resort makes the most of its position and utilises fresh produce from around the area, adding a layer of local charm to an already delicious dining experience. If you like your wine, you’ll find plenty to explore here.

It doesn’t end there. For elite relaxation, make sure to spend some time at the spa, where high-quality treatments are the best way to bring your body back to some harmony. It is a gorgeous spot for some pampering, and a must when in Lanzarote. There is also a well-stocked fitness room for getting a sweat on, and a decent-sized pool. Airport transfer is thrown in, too and highly recommended.

Time Out tip: Each of the suites is sea-facing, but go for an elevated one if possible: the views out across toward Fuerteventura are sublime.

5. Arrecife Gran Hotel & Spa

Splash out on this five-star hotel and you can be literally splashing in the sea within a minute of leaving the property. The hotel has 160 rooms and suites with huge windows that positively flood the space with natural light, offering gorgeous views and an infectious enthusiasm for the area. Some rooms have views of the city and others look out onto the sea, but you really can’t go wrong with either option. The standard rooms tick the comfort boxes without the need for ostentatious thrills, providing comfortable beds and safe surroundings that encourage visitors to get out and relax in the local area. If your budget stretches far and wide, the massive Sky Suite is the way to go, a two-bedroom stunner with panoramic sea views, luxurious comforts, and a space dripping in elegance. It is a delightful place to call home in Lanzarote.

The La Buena Vida restaurant takes care of the gastronomic side of things, serving delicious dishes in a charming environment. After all, there’s a lot to be said for dining on something special with ocean breezes and gorgeous views, right? The Mediterranean grub served up is fantastic, whether you are enjoying the most important meal of the day or embracing the romance with an evening meal. The stunning Blue 17 rooftop restaurant takes this to a whole other level, and might just be the most picturesque breakfast setting on the island.

The spa and indoor pool complete the feeling of total unapologetic indulgence. The space has been designed with serenity in mind, and it hits all the right notes, with a professional team on hand for a variety of treatments and services. The spa’s opening hours might be a little restrictive for some (it only opens between 10 am and 6 pm, but it is well worth making space in the schedule for some pampering.

Time Out tip: Time your breakfast for sunrise, and you’ll be rewarded with a truly unforgettable view.

6. Barceló Teguise Beach - Adults Only

If you can’t manage the arduous three-minute walk to the beach, there’s always the pretty palm-tree-lined pool at Barcelo Teguise, where you can join other sun worshipers on one of the Balinese beds like the baller you are. And unlike the beach, at least here you can be sure there are no wailing children around to disrupt your chill time, as this hotel is strictly a kid-free zone. The pool is a gorgeous spot to watch the sun come up or enjoy the orange hues of the sunset, and the whole thing is positively dripping in aesthetic sophistication. If you are the type of traveller who likes to document things on certain image-centric social media networks, this is the spot for you.

Of course, a resort can’t thrive on outdoor amenities alone, so what about the rooms at Barcelo Teguise? Luckily, the accommodation options here more than hold up their end of the bargain. The standard deluxe room is a spacious place to rest your head with a balcony to take in the ocean air, while the junior suite is on the other end of the scale with luxury in spades. The views are gorgeous, and you can’t beat a Lanzarote suite with a hot tub. It almost feels like a rite of passage for any serious Canary Island vacationer.

On the more energetic side of things, the hotel offers a range of sporting equipment for guests, including paddle boards and bikes. The wellness centre is a great place to unwind (you know, after all that lounging by the pool), with a sauna, steam bath, dynamic pool, and much more. Hungry? Get yourself to the buffet restaurant and pile that plate up high, before heading to the sports bar, lounge, or pool bar for a few drinks. This is the life.

Time Out tip: Enjoy dinner at the Breeze Gastro Pool Bar, the perfect combination of setting and substance.

7. Seaside Los Jameos Playa

There is a nostalgic charm to the facade of Los Jameos Playa that plays into romantic ideas of an adventure in the Canary Islands, but there is plenty more behind the entrance to get excited about. This beachfront hotel offers light-filled rooms with comfortable beds, terraces, and modern conveniences, catering to all needs with options ranging from twin rooms to family suites. There is also a double superior premium room for tourists seeking something more spacious, complete with a walk-in shower and private garden. There are also accessible rooms for travellers with disabilities, opening up the charms of Lanzarote to all.

Los Jameos Playa really shines on the gastronomic front, and the phrase “something for everyone” has never been so apt. The main restaurant takes its top billing seriously, serving delicious dishes built around a variety of evening themes. The themes don’t extend to breakfast, but there’s plenty to love about this morning meal setting. There are four bars for more informal experiences, from the Belingo Bar’s live entertainment to excellent piano, snack, and pool bars that are exactly what their names suggest. Wine tasting is available, and there are also live cooking workshops for those who like to learn with their food.

This stunning jigsaw of a resort offers a range of wellness and sports activities, starting with the fabulous spa. Here, you’ll find a chromotherapy sauna along with massages, aquatherapy, body wraps, and more. There are multiple pools, four tennis courts, and clusters of shade-giving palm trees. If you consider yourself a real athlete, trekking adventures can be organised, but there are a couple of golf courses nearby for an altogether more leisurely activity. The beach is a three-minute stroll away, but with all the excellence at the hotel, you’ll need serious willpower to tear yourself away.

Time Out tip: Make the most of those wine tastings and embrace your inner oenophile

8. Aqua Suites

With a charming location on the southern coast of Lanzarote, Aqua Suites is a dream. Modern suites provide the perfect base after a hard day, lounging in the pool, soaking up the bubbles in the jacuzzi (or the cheeky Bucks Fizz at breakfast), or catching some rays on the beach, which is a mere ten-minute walk away. It’s a tough life, but someone has to live it. The hotel has 67 rooms and suites, toeing the line between boutique and big while offering up the benefits of both. There is an intimate atmosphere that helps visitors feel part of something exciting, while also providing enough space and privacy for quieter moments. It is a best of both worlds situation, without doubt.

The standard room is standard only in name, with vibrant colours and charming comfort providing the perfect base for a Lanzarote stay. The family suite has room for visitors big and small (with a main bedroom, sofa bed, and bunk beds), while the hotel’s junior suites offer pool views and splendid relaxation. The beds are comfortable, and the expanse of natural light is positively life-giving. Speaking of sustenance, the hotel’s à la carte restaurant serves excellent food with a rotating schedule of evening chef’s specials. The space is as colourful as the rooms, providing a vibrant atmosphere for everything from an early breakfast to a late supper.

Aqua Suites covers plenty of ground, with Adults Only spaces and kids' clubs making it a brilliant option for families and couples alike. The three outdoor pools offer plenty of options for soaking up the rays and enjoying quality time with a good book. Plus, the hotel regularly runs discounts and offers to help you save a euro or two on your stay.

Time Out tip: The hotel holds a BBQ under the stars on Wednesday nights, an absolute must when in Lanzarote.

9. Barceló Lanzarote Active Resort

This resort has undergone a few changes in recent years, and the results speak for themselves. It has a whopping 659 rooms, each as vibrant and spacious as the last, covering everything from deluxe rooms to expansive suites. There is a focus on the active throughout the resort, particularly in the deluxe Sports and Hipoxia rooms, the latter of which allows visitors to replicate altitudes of up to 4,000 metres. This has made it a popular preparation stay for elite athletes, allowing them to get used to the trying conditions before heading high into the sky for real.

Of course, there’s a more than reasonable chance you’re going to be happy with a comfortable bed, some pleasant views, and hours of relaxation, and you’ll find plenty of that here as well. The family suite is the perfect spot for groups on the go, while the standard deluxe rooms come with balconies, modern conveniences, and a staggeringly large bed. Seriously, those things should come with their own postcodes. Whether you are heading to Lanzarote to prepare for a high altitude race or just looking to spend some time in the sun with your family, this sweeping resort is ready and waiting to help you tick all the boxes.

No matter your preferred type of getaway, you are going to need some sustenance. Luckily, the hotel has two a la carte restaurants and two buffet options, complete with local and international foods to keep bodies energised throughout. Still, sports take the focus, and there are almost 500 different activities available to guests throughout their stay, from biking to yoga and beyond. There is an Olympic-sized swimming pool, a children’s club, playground, mini-golf, life-size football table, and so much more. It is difficult to know where to begin, so dive in and see where it takes you.

Time Out tip: Personalised training is available from just €30 per person.

Address: Av. del Mar, 5, 35508 Teguise

Price: From £150 per night based on two people sharing (breakfast included)

Closest transport: Hotel Oasis Ida bus stop

10. Hotelito La Era B&B

Sometimes, you just can’t beat a high-quality bed and breakfast. Lanzarote might not be the first place that comes to mind when considering this classic form of accommodation, but be prepared to be surprised. Located in the small town of Yaiza, La Era is a real home away from home excursion, a charming B&B up in gorgeous mountains that can be admired from the lush gardens. The rooms are snug, but if you’re the kind of person who appreciates traditional beams, exposed stone-work and tiled murals, then you’ll find this place a dream. Each room is defined by a specific colour, so make a point of booking according to your mood. You’ll find green, lilac, red, blue, yellow, and more, each as charming as the last.

When hunger strikes, head to Jardines Le Era, the excellent on-site restaurant. As the name suggests, this eatery is located in the garden of the bed and breakfast. Canarian cuisine is the star of the show, with a focus on fresh, seasonal ingredients from the surrounding area. The bed and breakfast has some limitations in terms of room facilities, so be prepared to head out for food and drink throughout your stay.

That will be a dealbreaker for some tourists, but not every hotel needs to be a sweeping resort that functions almost as a city within the city. There is a lot to be said for stripping things back and fully engaging with island life, and you might be surprised at how infectious it can be. The staff are tremendous, always happy to engage with visitors and provide expert information about the surrounding area, the island’s history, and everything else. If you want a five-star luxury resort, stay elsewhere. If you value personality, this is for you.

Time Out tip: The B&B can be a little hit and miss when it comes to organisation, so it pays to be as prepared as possible ahead of your arrival. Let them know exactly when you hope to check in, and make sure you’ve got a working phone in case problems arise.

Address: C. el Barranco, 11, 35570 Yaiza

Price: From £87 per night based on two people sharing (breakfast included)
