Time Out says

If you’ve ever been to Detroit, there’s a good chance you’re already familiar with the concept of coney dogs and American Coney Island, one of the originators of the species. A coney dog is a hot dog wedged into a steamed bun and topped with chili, raw onions and yellow mustard. American Coney Island has been serving them for 100 years in Michigan as well as a handful in Las Vegas at the Detroit-inspired D casino where Midwesterners and drunks revel in the dogs’ meat-on-meat goodness.
