Time Out says

We revisit Philip Wohl (see Best Boy), now 70 years old and, so far as we can decode his words and looks, deriving interest and pleasure from his simply structured life. Clearly, the process of achieving semi-independence, so movingly recorded in the earlier film, was decisive. Subtitled 'Best Boy and all of us 20 years later,' this is nothing more urgent than an update - worth having, despite the sense of events being arranged as much for our benefit as Philly's: a visit to his parents' grave, a trip to California, his belated bar mitzvah. Most touching is the mutually sustaining relationship between Philly and his now-widowed sister Fran. And inevitably there is the action of the years, so manifest in an extended project like this: the deaths, the losing touch, the sadness alongside the affection and humour.
