Lubitsch's last film and one of his most engaging comedies, with Jones and Boyer surprisingly well-teamed as the plumber's niece (later housemaid) and the Czech refugee who throw English society into a tizzy with their disregard for conventions, while simultaneously allowing Lubitsch to take a few digs at well-meaning liberals. The satire, though taking in snobbery upstairs, downstairs and in the middle classes, doesn't exactly bite, but is given a jolly run around by a cast comprising most of Hollywood's British stalwarts from Sir C Aubrey Smith to Sara Allgood and Una O'Connor.
