Dôlé

In this spirited if somewhat muddled and maudlin cautionary tale, a group of rap-obsessed kids in Libreville, capital of Gabon, take to petty crime to further their plans to get a ghetto-blaster and find fame, one of them meanwhile neglecting his ailing mother and going through girl problems. Inevitably, given the humble resources, the movie could have benefited from better performances. A tighter story would have helped too. Better for effort than achievement, but engaging in its generally amoral attitude.
