This fairy tale is narrated by a tabloid journalist 'Angel' (Hayes) and comes complete with a wicked witch, Charlie's wife Muriel, who wants all the money for herself. Perez has a field day as Muriel, injecting a welcome note of good old-fashioned greed into what is otherwise a relentlessly edifying story. As Charlie, Cage is on best behaviour, while the wan Fonda is white-bread-with-crusts-off as the waitress worth her heart of gold.
