(Please note: many cinemas are not showing this film in the 3D version. Please check with venue to avoid disappointment.)
This is why 3D was invented: an eye-popping re-make of the 1981 ‘slasher’ movie that blends old-school ‘body count’ horror with bleeding-edge 3D effects. Patrick Lussier’s re-working of the censor-savaged Canadian original soon gets down to business, bumping off a string of well-drawn characters in imaginatively gory ways.
As Valentine’s Day approaches, a Pennsylvania town fears the closure of its mine, where ten years before an accident prompted a rampage by the sole survivor, Harry Warden. Now the killer is back, impaling victims on his pickaxe. But is this Harry a ghost or a copycat? Lussier keeps us guessing with a plot that is more psychological than supernatural. There is some repetition and over-plotting, but a central love triangle is thankfully more than a framework for the throwback ‘stalk and slash’ set-pieces.

This film definately is not horror but it is a very entertaining film. When watching it i was enjoying myself. I admit there are times when i had to laugh at certain points in the film but overall i would advise anyone to see it.
this has to be the worst s called horror film iv ever seen !!! not once did i jump let alone seem interested by the poor 3D work within the film , im a big horror film person as its more or less the only sort of filmes i watch , and this is just the worst its a shame i cant vote below 1 as its not even good enough for a 1 !!! its a rip off for a start on the price so the only ppl who are happy are the cimema's cos its ppl like us who are paying to go watch this crap !!
im normally the kind of person who is very disapointed by horror films everthing is either too obvious or o.t.t but i found my self thoroughly enjoying and lapping up everything thing this film had to offer. i found it was very wll made (in respect to the 3d) it made u feel like u were reslly part of the film even when people were beng brutally murdered or stalked if left u with a feeling of anticipation and never dried up. your stereo typical horror film gives u the obvious and expected moments of "jumpy"moments but the timing in this film was very clever to just hang it out that little bit extra before unleashing it's blood guts and gore.for me this film was top class and at last a credit to a good old fashioned horror flick
I completely agree with Perfect Day, this film was complete garbage and was a waste of time seeing it. I will say the most amusing part was with the maid in the tumble dryer - did lol!!
there is a rather confused script with too many characters and also it gives its secret away rather early -the 3d was good and kept me sitting but it got really improbable with lots of loopholes and an absolutely ridiculous ending which was totally hilarious . there were moments where you feel it has an interesting plot but it gets into too many stereotypes like the usual horror movies are inclined to with nothing to make this any different other then the 3 d
I AM A HAGE HORR-SCI FAN OF MOVIES THIS ONE WAS SO SO VERY VERY BORING I WAS GOING TO LAEVE BUT I WATCH IT TO SEE IF IT WAS GOING TO GET BETTER BUT IT DID NOT. JJ.
Absolutely Brilliant. I watched this without 3D and loved the film so I know that it would be so much better if I had seen it in 3D. I highly recommend that any slasher fan watches this as it kept me on the edge of my seat and was impressed by the ending aswell.
the best seats are ain the middle of the screen!, they shouldnt refuse a refund because thats faulse advertising, its a laugh to watch tbh, ITS WORTH WATCHING!!
over all this film is awesome i wouldnt say the best flm ever but it was pritty good. better than most horror films that are been released now !
The nudity while surprising to see in a 'mainstream' US film was too out of place. And by the sound of it embarrassing for the teen audience that surrounded us. The gore murkily shot apart from one kill scene in a parking lot. The acting and overwritten script just a load of hot air. Almost forgettable save for two well staged scenes - the store chase and some sharp editing of the killer knocking out lights while his true identity flashes on screen with every spark. As for the end zzz. Why fill a film with unsympathetic angry characters? I cross my bits the new F13th is an improvement!
The 3D effects were well worth the watch. Was a bit miffed after buying tickets online to be told once we got to cinema the glasses were extra £1 each and it was only shown in 3D so not watchable otherwise. Thanks Vue.
