First of the 16 Westerns produced by the Lone Star outfit for the B-studio Monogram Pictures and starring the young John Wayne, this has particular curiosity value because the Duke's undercover agent Singin' Sandy does just that (though the voice is dubbed by the director's son). Stuntman Canutt wears the black hat, pilfering the water supply from beneath the noses of honest farmers, while he and Wayne worked out between them the slick fight choreography. Surprisingly good, considering.
