Shores of Twilight

Based on a story by Alexandros Papadiamantis, this tells of a mature man disturbed by the vision of a young woman glimpsed at a window, who is compelled to make a journey by sea. Disconsolate, wistful and near-suicidal, he's found by a cave-dwelling recluse and introduced to the troglodyte's two equally individualistic friends whose stories bring him greater emotional peace. The director's fascination with primitive methods of storytelling has resulted in a movie of poetic kitsch, but, possibly, there are references here that may intrigue the informed.
