Time Out says

Anna Kendrick stars in this lame comedy about the outcasts at a fancy wedding

Bad Anna Kendrick is better than no Anna Kendrick – but this cringey wedding comedy almost sinks even her. She plays Eloise, one of six wedding guests seated on the reject table – you know the one, so far from the top table you can smell the toilets. Eloise was supposed to be head bridesmaid, but got sacked after being dumped by the bride’s douchebag brother. So, instead, she’s on table 19 with five randoms – including a socially dysfunctional cousin (Stephen Merchant), an awkward teenager (Tony Revolori, the kid from ‘The Grand Budapest Hotel’) and the bride’s dotty old nanny (June Squibb).

The gags here ought to have been put out of their misery and the we’re-all-in-it-together bonding between the kooks of table 19 is just painful. Worse, there’s a deeply uncool unfeminist message. That douchebag ex may have ditched Eloise by text – but you know, didn’t she bring it on with all that criticism and undermining of his confidence? Anna Kendrick really deserves better.
