HANNAH TOINTON 3.jpg
Just in time for Christmas, a seasonal horror from ‘W ∆ Z’ director Tom Shankland that jabs an icicle in your eye. Two families get together in an isolated cottage to share a little Yuletide cheer. Then one by one, the children fall ill and turn on the adults with a blank-faced spite that shocks even their loving parents. An accident with a sledge is a harbinger of worse to come. Innocent children’s playthings – bright yellow play tents, climbing frames and pencils – are imbued with a scary malevolence. Stranded in limbo is moody teenager Casey (a compelling performance by ‘Hollyoaks’ actor Hannah Tointon) whose adult intelligence is shot through with an infantile ruthlessness.

This taboo-shattering movie taps in to primal fears about the unknow-ability of children, its blood-stained virgin snow and insidious terror recalling cruel fairy tales and ‘demon child’ movies such as ‘The Omen’. Shankland’s approach is oblique rather than graphic, but these icy chills will send shivers down your spine.

this was a good movie. it wont be a classic but it was enjoyable. im sure most of you whos commented negatively about this movie are american and well these days americans cant do a good horror so they remake  horrors. they need to watch how the Asians and Europeans do them

well... I was intrigued because I had never seen it before. I thought it was interesting, but I don't know too much about horror movies that deal with viruses, because I have never watched those. I didn't always know what was going on... I understood the kids were evil because of a virus. I as a parent would have called the asylum or something if they started attacking me... and they look so innocent, some of them didn't even seem infected. In the beginning, a kid was seen just puking... for no reason whatsoever. the other little girl was watching him... but it took some children longer than others to even get infected. I don't know why the dad thought Casey had anything to do with the murders, and he locked her in a room... and the whole baby thing, her tattoo, it brought up some image of a bloody baby, like an abortion??? well, he can go die... I hated the father. He just took off... and the ending... I didn't know what happened, but I hope there's not a sequel, I don't want to watch this again, I did like the suspense... nothing was explained but did it really need to be? I don't care, I just don't wanna see it again. I don't wanna see anyone being stabbed in the eye again. I don't wanna hear all that crying, screaming from the little kids. I don't wanna hear that woman bitching... it's sad little kids had to die but there wasn't much of a choice... so yeah.

I couldn't agree more about this being a complete waste of time to watch in that there is NO explanation as to why the children all turn into raving killers. The ending was so daft, who were the other "dead" kids who appear in the forest? No connection or further reference to the virus is ever made. I can draw some conclusions of my own but the finale was just too obscure. It would have been altogether more satisfying an ending if there was some explanation given - thought the acting was ok and some of the dialogue between the teenager with the attitude and her step father was amusing.

I watched the entire movie only because of Rachel Shelley. What kind of ending was that? What were doing there all those children? How did it start? And why? Anyway, in my opinion it's more than just a virus. I think it has to do with Casey. I mean, her tattoo, the children putting dolls on their parents belly. I must be smth related to all this.

Clever mix of Children of The Damned & Invasion of The Body Snatchers...with a slight Japanese type delivery...I have read the previous reviews & in mu opinion it was a clever film,on the arty side...well acted & not overly gory...well not if you watch films like Saw...

The acting was brilliant, the story was ok but wasn't in my opinion all that scary. DID enjoy it, one of those films you watch if you are getting rat arsed!!!

Anyone who thinks this movie is bad is a Michael Bay fan and is a complete moron.Just watched this film today, it was awesome! Not your typical hollywood garbage horror movie.Very creepy!Great acting from the young actors, i pretty much watch only horror movies and ive been waiting for something good like this to come out for a long time! If you love horror movies, watch this film!

Some of the laziest comments I've ever read. Worst film you've EVER SEEN? Give me a break! I assure you there are worse films. Much, much worse films. As for me, I really liked it and think it intelligently recalls a great many previous evil child films through its narrative, imagery and music.

One of the absolute worst movies I have ever seen. Not even a hint of why the kids turned on their parents - nothing! Just a lot of screaming, bad acting, more screaming, and kids with stone-cold faces killing adults without any reason why. Lousy doesn't even come close to describing this miserable waste of time.

I'm someone who loves even the crappiest movies but this was beyond that. It is such an irritating movie. The beginning was promising and then it went quickly downhill. Very quickly. A waste of over an hour of my life

ok so i watched this movie i mean the start of it was alright the middle bit was also decent but towards the end i though the movie was rushed and i mean really rushed this should have been abit longer maybe by an extra 35 mins or so it could have been a good movie.

Everything everyone else said bad = true. although one thing to say that the film was fucking terrible. Whoever says it was good are stupid, and doesn't know what a good film looked like, the film made me so frustrated i wanted to punch the tv, the plot is just mish mash ending sucked, the father who hit his eldest daughter, i would of stamped on his face if i ever saw that, whoever says its good once again, truelly fucking STUPID. 4 stars WTF.

as a lover of horror/thriller this film was the worst i have ever seen, then again most english horror films are. slow to get into. didnt really make much sense, what an utter waste of my time.

The film never becomes interesting to people are used to watching thrillers, you wait and wait en then finally:.....nothing!

Some people on this site have given low rating because they simply don't get it. Its not the movie's fault if you don't get it. The father hit his own daughter because he thought it was her killing people for the idiot above. Yeah the story wasn't great and could have being explained much better. The movie looked good but some of the injuries were abit lame. story 3/5 acting 3/5 creepyness 4/5/ would i watch it again.. no did i enjoy it yes

I thought this was great. I like how u find out that the kids are evil b/c of a virus not b/c they're evil! Great acting, storyline and scared the crap out of me!! PLus the ending rockedd!

Oh and just to add, were the shots of the woodland supposed to be scary? chilling? oooooooh it really worked!!!

One of the worst film I have ever seen. The only reason I saw it through, was to try and make sense of it all............didn't happen. Poor poor storyline and was cringeworthy at best. It would take alot more than a slip backwards to break your tibia or fibula! Why did he abandon his wife and eldest daughter yet alone hit her?! The whole film goes against common sense which is frustrating to watch!

I didnt get it? At all. Why the hell did the kids turn evil? A virus? Possesed? Wtf? Where the hell did all those kids at the end come from? This film has NO explanation AT ALL.

I enjoy a good horror and this wasn't one no story behind it. y did the kids turn????? and the ending are they leaving it open for a second one?? i hope not

Good film for the bloodthirsty fans, poor for those who want a blockbuster movie. The film is enjoyable and starts resonably well keeping you involved but as the movie goes on the storyline becomes quite puzzling and the end is ... well quite a shambles as nobody in the film or cinema has a clue what is happening, Quite a good film though to be fair

Starts promisingly but descends into corny, low-budget schlock while hanging onto its pretentions. Unintentionally funny.

This film is dire. How it got rated with 4 stars is a mystery. The whole thing is a mish mash . No quality in the acting, muddled storyline. In a word- Rubbish!

beautifully designed, lit shot, edited, fantastic sound design & soundtrack. makes horror look attractive. terrifying.
