Through the Looking Glass

Film
All we get on both sides of this particular looking glass, situated in the dark room at the top of the stairs, is a repetitive series of masturbatory fantasies as a poor man's Catherine Deneuve (Burgess) is beckoned into the hereafter, or at least the elsewhere, by her dead father. The film tricks some interest out of its echoes of countless Gothic woman-in-jeopardy pics, but abandons all in an absolutely risible Danté-esque pastiche at the end. Full of half-thought-out elements like a pair of incestuous servants, pubertal traumas, and a dose of good old Oedipus, this shallow movie hardly rates the 's' in sexploitation.
