Time Out says

Egoyan in more mainstream mood than usual, with a slick mystery set in the 1970s, when a young  journalist (Lohman) investigates what exactly caused a massive rift between the two members (Bacon and Firth) of a Martin-and-Lewis-style double-act at the peak of their success in the late ’50s. The death of a beautiful young woman in their hotel suite may have had something to do with it; even so, they’d both been cleared of the crime… There are plenty of ideas floating around here, to do with fame, power, corruption, sex, money, ambition and betrayal, public image and private reality, but with the exception of Bacon’s predictably fine performance, the execution never quite lives up to the material’s promise. Some of the dialogue, especially, is clunky and in the end there’s a distinct impression of there being less here than meets the eye.
