The five best day trips in Grenada

Ditch the hotel for the day and discover the best things to see and do around the island

Be wowed by waterfalls on the west coast

For those with a set of wheels at their disposal, the island’s west coast offers tons of variety. Must-see stops include the Concord Waterfalls in St. John and Douglaston Spice Estate near Mount Nesbit, where you can learn about the uses and benefits of Grenadian herbs and spices.

Let the east coast rock your world

Highlights of the island’s rocky, craggy east coast include Fort Jeudy Blowhole – a mesmerising rock formation right on the coast – and Secret Window Beach, where waters are choppy and the uneven coastline makes for great hiking.

Discover gems hidden among the rainforest

The lush interior of the island offers lots to see and do. Look out for West African mona monkeys as you step on to the mouth of an extinct volcanic crater lake at Grand Etang Lake and Forest Reserve, then, for the afternoon’s fun, take a dip in Clabony’s sulphur springs and check out abandoned Cold War relics on the runway of Pearls Airport.

Go on an all-day beach crawl

Grenada has heaps to offer aside from sun, sea and sand, but if you want to bask in as much beauty as possible, grab a jumbo bottle of sun lotion and strut your way along the beaches of St. George’s. Grand Anse Beach is the best place to start, with BBC Beach, Portici Beach and Dr Grooms Beach to hit before you finish at the often-quiet Magazine Beach.

Get wet ‘n’ wild on a waterfall tour

Lather yourself in repellent, slip on some sturdy shoes and venture to four of Grenada’s most enchanting waterfalls. Be wowed by the daring jumpers at Annandale, enjoy the verdant vegetation on the way to Adelphi, hike up to Seven Sisters and refresh with a power shower under Mt. Carmel Waterfall.
