Frazier History Museum says
Join us for a morning of activities where students will explore concepts of empathy, compassion and peace, and how to put those ideals into action. From tai chi movement meditation with Baba Serikali, to a documentary-making workshop, and opportunities for community volunteerism, this fun workshop will offer something for everyone.

In honor of the Frazier’s newest exhibition Thomas Merton: A Familiar Stranger, the day’s inspiration comes from Merton’s famous epiphany at 4th and Walnut Streets in Louisville:

“I was suddenly overwhelmed with the realization that I loved all those people, that they were mine and I theirs, that we could not be alien to one another even though we were total strangers … There is no way of telling people that they are all walking around shining like the sun.” – Thomas Merton

Offered in collaboration with community partners and held during Mayor Fischer's Give a Day initiative, students will celebrate their own “shining sun” -- and how they can use that power to make the world a better place. Activities are free for members or with paid Museum admission.
