Please join Louisville Students for Justice in Palestine for #LouisvilleIAW2016 Israeli Apartheid Week is an annual week of events that focus on educating the public about the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict and celebrating Palestinian life and culture.


Monday, March 28:

Criticizing Israel: Anti-Semitic?
Panel of Jewish Community Members
Bingham-Humanities 205
6:30 - 8 PM

Four Jewish community members will discuss their views on the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict and whether or not criticizing Israel is anti-Semtic. Q&A session to follow. Refreshments will be served.

Tuesday, March 29:

Witness in Palestine
Hebron Report-Back by Christian Peacemaker Teams
Dutie Center 121
6:30 - 8 PM

Two Christian Peacemaker Teams team members will share their experiences working with CPT in Hebron, during a time of high violence this past November and December. Refreshments will be served.

Wednesday, March 30:

Parallels of Oppression: Black & Palestinian Solidarity
Panel of Black and Palestinian Community Members
Ekstrom Library, Chao Auditorium
6:30 - 8 PM

A panel of Black and Palestinian activists will discuss the similiarities in the forms of oppresion faced by each community and the importance of intersectionality and solidarity with each other's struggle. Q&A session to follow. Refreshments will be served.

Thursday, March 31:

Movie Night!
Premier of Al Helm: MLK in Palestine, with opening by Detaining Dreams
Floyd Theater
6:30 - 9 PM

One night with TWO movies! First, watch the short film Detaining Dreams, which follows families affected by the arrest of Palestinian teenagers without charge or warrant. Next, watch Al Helm: MLK in Palestine, which follows the experiences of a black church choir that joins forces with a Palestinian theater for the play of a lifetime. Refreshments will be served.

Friday, April 1:

Pies, Poetry, and Palestine
LSJP Social Potluck
Shumaker Research Building
7 - 9 PM

LSJP in collaboration with Louisville Showing Up for Racial Justice to present Pies, Poetry, and Palestine. Bring a pie, bring a poem, or bring yourself! Community members and activists will draw from poetry by Palestinian authors, or bring their own work inspired by Palestine. Funds will go to LSJP to fund events for next year! $5 per person.

Events are hosted by Louisville Students for Justice in Palestine. Sponsored by: Louisville Committee for Peace in the Middle East, Louisville Jewish Voice for Peace, Louisville Showing Up for Racial Justice, and Stand Up Sunday: Black Lives Matter.
