The reggae-pop band UB40 formed way back in 1978 when its future members met while queuing at the local unemployment office; that's why they decided to give their group the name of one of the forms the government made them fill in to get their benefit money. The multi-racial nature of the band is a clear reflection of its origins at the heart of the British working classes in the 1970s.
