Last week we learned that Brightline was finally going to start operating out of Miami, some long overdue and welcome news for those of us who find ourselves commuting to Fort Lauderdale or West Palm Beach often.

Today, another bit of public transportation news: Lyft and Brightline have announced a partnership. This partnership will not make it cheaper to take a Lyft to and from the Brightline, but it will make it significantly easier. Lyft will have official pickup and drop-off zones at each Brightline station, equipped with lounge areas where you can wait for your ride. Lyft will also be integrated into the Brightline app in the next week to make the process even easier.

Only time will tell exactly how much easier all this hullabaloo actually makes your county-to-county commute, but the foundation for Brightline’s master plan is starting to take shape in South Florida. And it’s all looking pretty tempting to a society very sick and tired of I-95.

You can ride the very first train out of Miami this Saturday, May 19.
