Every family has a secret. Some are buried deeper than others…

Seven years after little Billy Bell disappears from the Iowa State Fair, Cat McCloud daydreams on an overgrown grave. Cat is a misfit with a black mark on her soul. She’s desperate to get high, get drunk and get kissed. She has no time for made-up lies or missing kids! When her sister whispers, “I know who took that missing boy,” Cat doesn’t believe her. Why believe the Queen of Secrets? Then her sister dies. Then more kids go missing, and Cat sleep-walks the neighborhood, haunted by the growing list of HAVE YOU SEEN ME’s…

Heidi Arneson’s suburban-Gothic road-trip thriller probes the shadow side of Midwestern good intentions, uncovering a complex web of silence behind several missing child cold cases.

Heidi Arneson is a many-armed troublemaker. She writes, paints & performs in an attic studio she finished by hand. She has written many plays (including DeGrade School & BloodyMerryJammyParty), performed one-person shows in Minneapolis, New York & California, received the Bush Artist Fellowship, the Minnesota State Arts Board Initiative Grant & the Loft/Jerome Minnesota Writer’s Initiative Grant for her work, & led storytelling workshops for male inmates, but she is happiest curling up with a mystery or digging in her own backyard. Interlocking Monsters is her first novel.

Illustrator Alberta Mirais has worked as a visual artist, musician and performer. Her artworks have hung in collections across the Us and overseas. Among her finished works & repertoire are recordings, films, giant books, live bands & surreal burlesque dance theatre. She currently sings & composes in her lounge band, Holiday.
