It's filled with a hallucinogenic array of light installations, cartoons are playing on the big screen, and costumes are encouraged: The new drive-in theatre installation at Ciné-Parc Orford in Orford, Québec called VROOM! by Moment Factory—a company known for massive multimedia installations like a basketball court that reacts to sound and light or decking out Montreal's Jacques Cartier bridge in a chromatic calendar of 365 colours—is one of the coolest things on offer right now in Canada for quarantine-weary, entertainment-starved locals.
Launching less than two weeks ago, the concept completely flips the typical drive-in experience on its head, turning the typical park-and-watch experience into a totally immersive experience for families and folks who just want to be a kid again: Cars drive through a entrance filled with lights and costumed attendees who are guided to park in an open area festooned in a coordinated display of—you guessed it—more lights. Guests are encouraged to dress up, and there's also a green screen setup for people to film themselves and their car with different backgrounds.

“As new owners of the Ciné-Parc Orford drive-in, we want to augment the visitor experience by using multimedia content in the context of a cultural family outing," says Ciné-Parc Orford François Pradella co-owner.
As of this moment, this weekend marks the last for the project, so there's still time to experience it before Moment Factory packs up shop and moves on to their next project. Every night there are two screenings, and tickets are still available at either $18 per person or $50 per car with a maximum of 7 people per vehicle.
