Outtakes aren’t second-rate when they’re left over from one of the greatest rock docs of all time. A worthy companion to the Dylan flick Don’t Look Back, D.A. Pennebaker’s collage of precious moments from Zimmy’s legendary 1965 U.K. tour covers more awkward encounters with starstruck fans and ignorant interviewers. But the meat of the film consists of live performances of songs such as “Don’t Think Twice, It’s All Right” and “It’s Alright, Ma (I’m Only Bleeding),” onstage, in parlors and in backstage green rooms, including impromptu duets with Joan Baez. This footage easily earns the proper treatment it gets here.
