Time Out says

2 out of 5 stars

A professor (Corraface) prepares a lavish last-minute meal for his visiting grandfather. Upon hearing that his beloved relative can’t make the trip, the man travels to see the ailing elder and—because one homemade dolma is roughly the equivalent of 20 Proustian madeleines—flashes back to a lifetime of shared epicurean memories. A popular success back home, Tassos Boulmetis’s drama covers a half century’s worth of stormy sociopolitical history while hammering the message that food holds families together. The meals look ravishing; the film, however, leaves nothing but a sickly-sweet aftertaste.—David Fear
