What is home? For New Yorker Danae Elon, daughter of renowned Jewish historian
and author Amos Elon, the question leads to reexamining her upbringing in
Jerusalem and reconnecting with Mahmoud "Musa" Obeidallah, the Palestinian man
her parents hired to be her caregiver for nearly two decades. At first, Elon's
film seems like a perfunctory exercise in Israeli-Palestinian rhetoric tinged
with personal sentiment ("You used to iron my army uniform!" she blurts at her
gnome-faced male nanny). But what emerges is a larger, bolder statement about
familial and cultural identities.
