Time Out says

Perpetually petulant and chronically unemployed since the traumatic death of his father more than ten years ago, emotionally adrift Duncan Shorter (Jackson) rediscovers the importance of family and love when he begrudgingly reconnects with his ailing grandfather (Sutherland) and finds himself falling for the old man’s spunky home nurse (Lewis). A too-pat ending and some fairly convenient plot devices mar an otherwise surprisingly sensitive and thoughtful portrayal of young manhood in the hard chill of Minneapolis.—Stephen Garrett
