Time Out says

We expect our cartoons, especially the talking-animal variety, to take certain liberties. But when “boy” and “papa” cows sport nipplelicious udders—not to mention cell phones and fratboy attitudes—you thank heaven for the food chain. Barnyard, of course, wants nothing to do with reality; its cows order pizzas, steal cars and, when they die, get interred, not eaten. Especially young viewers might enjoy some of the head-bonking action, but a gratuitous product placement for Paramount’s upcoming Charlotte’s Web hopefully signals more serious entertainment on the horizon.
