As it’s announced that an American hospital have cured a child of HIV, here comes a documentary about the thousands of Indian children living with the disease. It’s a tough topic, but reviews from the 2013 Sundance Film Festival suggest that ‘Blood Brother’ walks the line between informative, uplifting and devastating with remarkable poise. It’s the tale of unusually named American Rocky Braat, who initially travelled from Pittsburgh to India on the backpacker trail, seeking personal enlightenment. Once there, he became involved in a treatment centre for young people with Aids, and invited his friend Steve Hoover to document the experience. ‘Blood Brother’ is the result.
